Is that they didn't change a whole lot in the 10 years they where making them.
They still had the same eyes, styles of symbols you see this even in dream beauties.

I've always loved how they look like chubby little Shetland ponies...so cute! But G2's are more exotic, the 3's are kind of anorexic 1's (sorry, my opinion...they are still very cute, though ) and 4's appeal to the anime lover in me! The only ones I didn't like as a chile were the TE's...they looked weird to me, but they've grown on me a LOT. I'm restoring a Gingerbread I found at Goodwill who was in horrendous condition when I found herm..excellent symbols and hair, disgusting body, but no rust! Lol
I especially love G1's soft, gentle eyes. They remind me of a Jersey cow's, just calm and relaxed...and even though they're all the same in the eyes (basically) the look in them seems to change depending on their pose! I love all the gens, and wouldn't be surprised if 3.5's started to grow on me too...I really like their hair! but I think I'll stick with 1, 2, and 4.

G1s will always be my faves. G2 is not for me - I cant find the love for them... But G3 brought back a little bit of the look I love, cuteness! And the G4 has totally won me over as a anime fan

What I love is that there is a variety of the ponies and it's not the same thing more than three times(i.e. Gusty, So soft Gusty, Nirvana Gusty, etc.). I also like the fantasy feel of it and it got me inspired to draw. :3

I love the variety on G1. I love that they kept to a certain feel for the line but I love that we had big ponies and little ponies - sisters, brothers, babies, pony friends
