How to handle non-paying bidder?
« on: May 20, 2013, 12:57:30 PM »
It looks like I've got my first NPB on Evilbay. :(

The item only sold for £1.50, but over a week later and they haven't paid yet. I just wanted some advice from you more experienced sellers as to how to handle it please?

Should I file a non-paying bidder claim (how do you do that by the way)? Or can I just cancel the transaction?

Thanks in advance

Have you attempted to contact them or sent them an invoice during that time?

If they have not made contact, I would open a NPB case. Do not cancel the transaction in a case like this.

eBay is getting very tiring with all of the horrible buyers. :(

I sent them an invoice after maybe 6 days, as a reminder, and because that's when my other sales finished (I thought maybe they were going to bid on something else ).

Should I sent them a message too, telling them I will make a NPB claim if they don't pay? Where is the option for NPB claim?

Yes, this is my first bad buyer and it makes me :( what with all the horror stories on here too...

I think just straight out open a case, they have had plenty of time to contact you if that had some issue but at the end of the day they bid they won they need to pay in a respectable time frame. Sorry you got someone who wasted your time

Yeah, I would go ahead with a case. Especially if your other listings have ended. It is not as though it is a large amount, they should not be looking at eBay if they cannot follow through with something like that...

I would go ahead and open a case, you have done everything right as far as giving them a chance to respond.

In regards to opening a case, you should be able to go into your seller manager and look under "Awaiting Payment" click in there and look for the drop down menu on the right from the transaction in question. It should have the option to open an unpaid item case, just click on that and it will walk you through the process.

Yes open a case on it. I have had to many of these things happen to me. Now when I sell something I do my buyer requirements. Now I do not have any new accounts bidding on my stuff. I would recommend it!

Thanks all and thanks ponylady for the detailed instructions. :)

I thought this guy would be ok because he has 77 transactions and 100% rating. But the case is open now.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the girl with only 1 transaction will cough up soon for the item she won on Sunday. After all, I was a 0 transaction person at one point.  :)

Sometimes opening a case will make  the buyer "remember" to pay up ;)  I think you did the right thing -you've already given your buyer plenty of time to pay before  you opened the case .

I just opened two cases last night. One buyer paid within an hour, even though I had sent them a couple invoices throughout the nine days after winning. Nothing from the second person though.

Silly buyers :( The one I opened a case on finally paid, but now the other person hasn't paid so I'm going to have to open a case on them.  Don't people understand how much of our time their wasting? Why bid if you don't intend to buy?
