The Second Phase: The nominating process is now over! Thank you kindly to all who nominated ponies for our Arena Derby. Now we come to the fun, challenging, but rewarding part. This year, I'm showing you how to do it, then explaining. Hopefully, the image makes the process simple to understand.

This will be a week for predicting the winners for all the races. This process will be done through PMs, and I will keep track of the predictions. Scores will be tallied based on how accurate your predictions are, and the amount of winners will depend on the amount of people who enter! (Anywhere between 5 to 15 winners, perhaps? I can't predict!

Verbal instructions on how to make predictions

(small note: before reading, keep this simple phrase in mind - "pick two out of four")
Each day, I will put up a poll of four ponies to race each other, and the top two ponies will move onto a future race while the bottom two are eliminated.

Here is the challenge for you! Predict which two ponies will come in first and second in each day's race, in order. Fill out the brackets all the way to the final winner, using your best guesses. Earn points based on your accuracy, and potentially win a prize.

Keep this strategy in mind: don't rely on what you know are your favorite ponies - anticipate which ones are the collective favorites of all the members voting. It's a big popularity contest.

For each of the 64 races, pick the first and second place runners who will move on from each day's race in order of finish. For "Round One" of races, predicting each one of the correct ponies to move on to a future race will score two points each for the correct order, and one point for the wrong order. (For example, you think a certain pony will come in first place and it winds up coming in second. You'll still get points, just fewer of them.)

In each successive round of the racing, picking the winners will earn double the points of the round before. "In Round Two," 4 for the correct order and 2 for incorrect order. "Division Final", 8 pounds for the right order and 4 points for the incorrect order. And so on, doubling for each round.

On the picture of the bracket, you see the list of ponies in each race along the left and you fill out the lines on the right. The arrows and labels are there to assist. Each of the lines has its own number. Please send me a list, numbered 1 to 127, of your corresponding predictions. Thank you!

Go ahead and PM me with your predictions. The deadline is 7:00pm MDT, Saturday, May 18th.

Don't forget: This is not a contest to see which character is your favorite. It's a contest to guess which character is the favorite of the majority. It's all a big popularity contest, so keep that in mind when making your predictions.

NOTE: You don't have to make predictions in order to participate in the polling stage. You can still have the fun of helping our racing ponies take the lead by voting daily in each bracket. The predicting part is just a little fun contest to win some modest pony prizes, provided by me and some of the other, wonderful Arena moderators.

I didn't send in predictions last year and just following along guessing as I voted I made quite a few correct predictions so I definitely have to try it this year.

I'm going to need to look at some pony guides for the G2s I think

I went through it yesterday and made my own predictions. The G2s and G4s were challenging for me because 1) they've never been in a Derby before* and 2) I don't know who is more popular and who isn't. So, I guess I'll see how well I did.

Nope nope, you're right. I forgot to put in the date and I realized that while I was out this morning. The deadline is Saturday, May 18 and I will go edit that in.

Because this is the Arena's 10th anniversary, we're having a double-size Derby this year. I'll probably look like about one month from now.
