Author Topic: I ruined my childhood pony :( update on page 2 (Read 2162 times)

So.. when I started collecting ponies, I had no idea what I was doing. My Baby Cuddles had some marks on her, and I read about acne creams on internet. Well, as you can already guess, she ended up with white spots.

But thats not the problem, I thought I was smart and I would paint over the white spots.

Something went wrong, and after a year the paint just started falling off. I decided to remove it because she looked awful.

And this is how she looks now.

The paint made her yellow, and the white spots under it just grew 100x times bigger!

So I guess my options are.. a) Buy better paint and paint it again or b) sunfade the yellow (if even possible) but the white will stay.

What would you do?

I know its a common pony, but she is my childhood pony and I wont give up on her.

Oh NO!!!! I am sorry that is what happen to her! Maybe someone on here will have something you can do to make it better.

Perhaps you could paint her again. Perhaps you could buy one other for display purposes amongst your other ponies and keep this little childhood pony on your bedside table?

Thank you so much! I never thought about that! I love pony wear, so thats a really good idea!

I thought about buying another one, but I love keeping my childhood ponies on display with the rest of my collection, I would almost feel bad for "replacing" her..

I didn't think of ponywear duh what an idiot I am, that is a fabulous idea, disguising the marks if you can't get rid of them

If you ever wanted to try a fix then perhaps submerging her body in peroxide in a closed container under the sun might help strip away all the yellow stains but that will most likely fade her symbol and lighten her entire body too which you'll then need to carefully dye to match her head + repaint the symbols, so it isn't an easy job.

Personally I'd go with the pony wear suggestion cause then I won't have to worry about staining her body and Baby Cuddles looks incredibly cute when dressed up!

I love Pony Wear, may I recommend Prima Ballerina or Overalls. Those cover her legs and combine beautiful with her colors.

Thanks for the tips! I will probably try that peroxide trick in the summer, I have some other ponies waiting anyway! I dont think I can make her any worse.. And I can always hide her in ponywear.

That Prima Ballerina set is so cute! Bunnysuit would look sooo cute too.

Eventually you could track down the buggy she came with too. Cuddles looks really cute swaddled in the blanket, pillow and bonnet, and when she's in there you won't be able to see the spots.

In the end, it's your love for her that counts, and you're doing your best for her!

This is a great idea, this is how I display my childhood Baby cuddles even though there is nothing wrong with her

she just has her cute little head sticking out ^^

That's so true! I would love to find the buggy some day. I think my Cuddles was a fleamarket find or something, I have no memory of ever having any accessories.

Thank you so much for all these ideas, now I dont feel so bad about ruining her.. Im sure she would be happy sitting in the buggy.

I actually think she looks kinda cute like that.. She definitely tells a story!
My childhood toys are all marred up, but each mark has a story to tell and I think that Baby cuddles looks very unique!
I can so see her in a cute little tutu though. Poor dear!

Oh, she looks a little bit ill, I'm so sorry. I think you should try another color. If it was my childhood-pony I also wouldn't give up on it
