How long does ebay keep money from new sellers?

I can;t find the info on ebay.ca. I heard it was something like 25 days 0.o Just want to make sure, as I am considering selling my MH Toralei on there.

does ebay do that? that doesnt sound right to me.
I had some paypal mess-ups in the past where they randomly did security checks and had to keep my money *coughs*... ah well... but it did not have anything to do with newbie or not.
I never heard of ebay doin that - but than I am quite an old school ebayer ;-)

eBay does withhold it if you do not have enough (or recent?) seller feedback. I do not believe it took the whole stated length of time, which is 21 days, maybe? If you print labels via eBay to provide tracking information, it definitely speeds things up. I did not have to wait the entire length of time.

If you upload tracking for what you ship, you get the money 3 days after they can confirm delivery OR as soon as they leave you positive feedback.

If you do not upload tracking, you get the money as soon as they leave you positive feedback OR it has been some absurd length of time like 20-30 days.

Once you earn enough feedback, then the next time they do an account review which is every 3 months maybe? They will remove the hold on your account.

I think you'll find that's paypal? I know since I stopped sharing my mum's paypal with her permission, I got my own account (it was too much hassle having my own but circumstances have changed and I use my new own one now) it holds my money 21 days at a time, and sort of makes it not worth while... But it will be when I'm no longer a new seller!

If there are no problems with a transaction, the money will typically be released within 21 days after the buyer pays. If there are problems, such as a dispute, claim, chargeback, or return, we'll release the payment when the issue is resolved. The money may be released early if:
 •You ship directly using USPS, UPS, or FedEx, or pay for shipping and print labels on PayPal. Once we know that the item was delivered, we'll release the payment within 3 days, OR

What can I do to avoid delayed payment?
 

Here are a few simple steps you can take to make sure that your money is available sooner and that future payments aren't delayed:
 •Process orders right away and ship quickly using a service that provides tracking and delivery confirmation.
 •Upload or save tracking information or Delivery Confirmation numbers.
 •Communicate early and often with your buyers.
 •Confirm the address and phone numbers associated with your PayPal account, and keep them up to date.
 •Verify your account and keep your financial information (like bank account and credit card numbers) up to date.
 •Avoid buyer disputes, claims, and chargebacks.
 •If you have a buyer dispute, resolve it quickly.
 •If you sell on eBay, improve your Detailed Seller Ratings (DSRs) scores.

its a bit of a nuisance isnt when your starting out selling on ebay these days isnt it? still, if you start to sell there more often after a while they dont hold the funds. Ponylady's info is helpful in the meantime

I ran into this when I started a sellers account on my husband's eBay account last fall. It is an eBay policy, not a Paypal policy. As mentioned above, quickly uploading tracking will get your money released sooner. Best of luck to you!

I thought this information was helpful also so you would know when that would all end and you would get your funds immediately.  You may want to really watch things. My husband had to call paypal because they didn't honor one of his sales in the beginning.  Not saying that happens often, but they missed one of his for whatever reason.

You have had successful sales for 90 days.
You have had 25 sales.
You have made 250.00 or more.

Its important to note all three of these have to be met before they will stop the withholding of funds.  Not just one or two.  I found that if I put the tracking number up the day it sold and mailed it right away once it was delivered I got my funds fairly quickly.  Its that "delivered" part that holds the release of the funds.

Just so those down under don't freak out:

On ebay.com.au, you can withdraw funds immediately. I sold my first item (2nd item listed) on friday, and I pulled the funds out over the weekend to pay shipping on monday when I ship it out.
