@hathorcat- There are 4? I thought you and I each had one, and a friend of yours had a 3rd one, but that was it When did a 4th one appear? You've got me really curious now

I would like to know their value someday, as they are pretty cool, but I don't feel like selling mine to find out

Yup 4. Although there were supposed to be 10 originally lol...then 8...then 7...then 6... then when the original box arrived there were only 3. Which split between you me and someone else. However, when I got a shipment of non pony items about 6-8 months later [cant remember exactly to be honest], my friend had managed to get another one - she now lives with another awesome pony friend

But at present its still only 4 and the little man who sold them to my friend has never had anything unique again - plenty of other Hasbro and MLP items but never anything which hasnt been seen in stores eventually or Taobao initially. I keep hoping...

So the source was the same guy. I would be curious on value as well but I am not sure how sought after they would be and I dont feel like selling mine either at the moment to test that market out.

My Princess Cadance with gradient wings. Her cutie mark is also a little smaller and her color slightly different than the one that actually came with the Wedding Castle. She's my only prototype.

I have been considering what exactly is the difference between a prototype and a factory error. I guess prototypes are tests, never meant to be sold, they are sometimes unfinished ponies as factories may run different tests fro body mold, painting, eyes, hair, etc... don't know...

Stella Bella and Holly Blue seems to fall on the factory error category for me, but they decided to use the "errors" as exclusives.

Does anyone have a more clear explanation? These is just my guesses on the issue but I would like to have a clearer concept in mind ^^quote]

I think it all rests on how easy it could be to re-create them.  Its quite easy to swap the heads on ponies to create a couple of (what i call) Hybrid ponies.  It could also be do-able to re-hair them in a different colour. Its also possible to remove the original pony's cutie mark and paint on another (though you'd need serious painting skills!!).  These ones are not too valuable, though they are fun 

Then you have true prototypes, like the Funko blanks I have seen on a similar post, and the G1/3 blank or incomplete ponies I have seen in answer to this thread.  Also the G4 Sweetie Blue - some reckon this is a prototype of the much wanted Mrs Cake, and the G4 Minty. 

There are also the pre-releases, like the Mrs Cake and Baby Molasses G4's. I think if there is no official release on these then they can be classed as prototypes. If they are officially released then they are just normal (albeit extra special because you got one first) ponies.

This is only my humble opinion though    I know there has been some controversy over these, but I think they are quite fun

I'm loving everyone's photos:) I still waiting on a bunch of mine to come in but I found these variant blind bag Royal Riff ponies on ebay and just had to have them. These photos are from the seller. They still have more too including a yellow earth rainbow dash, lavander and pink earth pony flutter shy's and a different blue rainbow dash. I just bought the boys because I thought they were neat with the Barber pony's eyes. I wonder if they're all just color tests since all the other clear ponies have painted hair? There seems to be a few handfuls of them floating around so who knows!

I also have a few variants that were already shown like Lyra Rays, Trixie Shy, Pinkie w yellow hair, and the Fashion style Rarity with Celestia's hair and what was probably a rejected/unfinished fashion luna that came out before her single release. She has the same hair colors, only difference is her wings don't have glitter and they're not glued in. I also ordered this gal recently since I thought she was pretty with the tinsel. Haven't decided if I'm going to give her a symbol or not when she gets here.
