Shipping question- Hong Kong to USA
« on: February 14, 2013, 05:52:59 PM »
Hi gals and guys,

I have a quick shipping question. I placed an order with a doll company on Jan 31st. They shipped on Feb 1st and the doll left Hong Kong on Feb 7th. It still has not reached the US. Should I be worried? This is what I see from the USPS site

Every package I've ever had from China, even Airmail generally takes a week to get to customs in the USA. Is there anything I can do?

Depends on where it's coming in at. Chicago has been getting snow off and on. It's probably still in transit I would give it a few more days. They also have been sucking at updating it as soon as it arrives in the US I have seen lately.

It can sometimes take up to a month to receive stuff from HK, though it's usually 2-3 weeks from my experience. :awake: I wouldn't be worried quite yet.

They are still celebrating the Chinese New Year, everything will be slowed down a lot. No reasons to worry yet! I hope you get your things soon!

I'm waiting for a package from Hong Kong that was mailed on 2/7. Here's the tracking progress of mine.

Date #   Location   Delivery Status
7-Feb-2013   Hong Kong   Item posted.
7-Feb-2013   Hong Kong   In transit.
8-Feb-2013   Hong Kong   Processed for departure.
8-Feb-2013   Hong Kong   The item left Hong Kong for its destination on 8-Feb-2013
10-Feb-2013   United States of America   Arrived and is being processed.

As of early this morning it's in Richmond, CA and I'm expecting it early next week.

Have you tried tracking your package with Hong Kong post (or however it was shipped, not USPS)?

Here is what HongKong post is stating

The item (RC094305732HK) left Hong Kong for its destination on 7-Feb-2013

To make further enquiry of this item, please complete the Online Enquiry Form or send the item number; the details of sender; addressee and contact information by fax to Mail Tracing Office. Our fax no. is (852) 2868 4723. You can also email or call our Mail Tracing Office at (852) 2921 2211 during office hours.

I know I'm pretty much out of luck as far as China goes with the holiday. But if it left Hong Kong on the 7th, it should be here in the States by now. I have never had a package take this long just to reach the US.

I bet that the holiday stopped it up somewhere.  It might have left Hong Kong but may be somewhere else in China waiting to go out-

Seriously- the New Year celebration is a big big deal- everyone in manufacturing/retail/government- get most of the month off (but at the very minimum get a couple of weeks).  It is generally the only time off that these people get.

I don't know that EMS would have helped- my EMS shipments were late too...

I think it's a little early to be worried, as stated above.  I believe any packages I've had shipped from China took at least two weeks, even in a non-holiday period.  If it's not here by mid-March (like around the 13th or 14th, then I might worry.

Guess I'll buckle down and wait it out then. I get its a huge holiday but it's annoying when you're waiting on a package. I couldn't imagine if our postal service shut down for two weeks

It's probably already left the country. I have been using SAL for all my AmiAmi boxes coming from Japan. It'll be "In Transit" for a day or two and then it pops back to "Origin Post is Preparing Shipment". Then I never get another update before it shows up on my doorstep. I just got 2 boxes yesterday that I paid for at the end of January, so yeah. It's slow and something's up with the tracking system right now. Hopefully you'll see it before the end of next week.

Ugh. I hope so too. That'll be at the three week mark.

The East Coast just had a blizzard also. I know USPS's site had an announcement up as of a few days ago stating there were delays.  So it may not only be because of the Chinese New Year.

Maybe its one of those things where they don't have to scan at every location like they do for delivery confermation. SOmetimes I would see full tracing inf and others all I would see is "accepted at so and so facility" and nothing again till it was delivered

also - yeah, that blizzard did a number on parts of the NE. I was actually on a carnival cruise at the time but when I got back 2 days after, many of the main roads in NY were still covered with 3 feet of snow and people were not allowed to go to work/drive/anything.
