Getting Paypal Verrified?!? Help.
« on: February 13, 2013, 08:29:20 PM »
I hope this is the right place for this.

Sooooo, of course when I win a bunch of ebay auctions for mlp,  I hit my "sending limit"?!
All my payments have been declined, and i'm honestly freaking out.
Thank you paypal for not sending me any kind of notification that I was getting close to it.

I'd like to know if I really need to link my bank account or get a paypal credit card.
I am not willing to do either one.
I need to pay for this stuff asap!

Help?!?  :cloud: :cloud: :cloud: :cloud: :cloud:

Can you just get a post office load and go visa card? we have them here, I have that linked to my phone, so if someone knicks it they can only spend what ever amount I have on it?
Not sure what else to suggest.

I use green dot/money packs to load my paypal.
this time I was going to have it go onto my credit card.
I'm not sure if I add funds if it will allow payment. :/
This is all so confusing.

My understanding when it happened to me was that I had no choice but to link my bank account (I'd already had a debit credit card linked but apparently that wasn't good enough). I have it set up so that I get a code sent to my phone each time I want to log in which makes it more difficult for someone to hack into the account I guess?

My understanding could be completely wrong though.

I know there are 3 things that can be done to lift your spending limit. And each one of them in order below raises the limit only to a specific point.

If you add a credit card it will provide a small amount of a sending limit.  Confirming the card will raise it again, but it will be unlimited once you add and confirm a bank account.

I know it seems scary maybe to add your bank account but mine has been linked for 10+ years and I have never had an issue.  The reason they want a bank account is because from my understanding it is cheaper to process transactions through a bank account that it is for them through a credit card company.  That is why I think they push so hard for you to add it to be honest.

Anyways I am not sure other than doing what has been suggested to do for you to pay for your items.  I suppose you could contact the seller and see if they will accept a Money Order???

I am very paranoid about protecting my bank account. I only withdraw cash from my banks machines in the bank, I check the machine first. I never pay with my debit card to protect my funds from being skimmed by people who steal pinpads. I use a separate operating system when I do online banking etc. That account is linked to my personal paypal though so I can easily transfer over funds when I sell things, or pay with e-checks on occation. I haven't had an issue in all the years the two have been joined. I hope this makes you feel a little safer about the entire process. :)

I'm not overly careful about my info other than the general common sense things. Like, no replying to emails saying I won the lottery in another country! lol

That said, I have had my checking account linked to my Paypal account for 13 years now. I have had 0 problems. The only time I ever had a problem with my checking account was when someone actually stole my physical checks and started using them.

Identity theft happens, yes, but it isn't as common as it is made out to be. As log as you don't leave your personal info laying around, and don't give it to every single person to email you asking for it, then you will likely be fine. :)

thank you everyone!!!
You've all been super helpful and eased a lot of my worries.
As much as I hate it, I guess I will have to link to my checking account. :/
The last thing I need is a second credit card. lol
If I can get around having to link, I will def post about it

How frustrating for you
like ponylady and some of the others mentioned, linking a bank account is prolly the best thing to do. me and hubby have had one linked for 7 years now without any issues too :awake: .  (ours is a seperate one for this though not our main one. I guess you could open another one with a bit of monies in especially for this, if you dont want to link your main one)

Mine is awakard. They will NOT accept my bank account but do take my debit card which is linked to the checking account they keep rejecting. It was linked directly to it years ago but then they booted my account out and will not reaccept it. Been like this for over 7 years now and i do not have a spending limit
