Handicraft Contest Question

After seeing the beautiful things made last year, I want to put my needlecraft skills to use and enter this year's handicraft contest category.  My question is what the rules are regarding patterns?  I found G1 MLP patterns and also have other patterns I can adjust to have a MLP theme.  What are the rules for this?
