Discolored white G2 head, what to do?
« on: December 08, 2012, 01:02:27 PM »
The G2 pony in question is Junior.   She is white with blue hair and a pencil symbol.  I've had her put in a plastic bin with many other ponies for a while.  It is NOT airtight.  I was looking at them today and noticed her head is cream colored and sticky.  :/

I am hoping there is something I can do to fix her, as otherwise she is in pretty good condition!

Thanks for any suggestions!

Sounds like a plasticiser leaking. I have seen very dramatic colour changes in white G2s in the past unfortunately but normally thats in the ponies which have different types of plastic in their limbs to their torso so they age differently.

I would think for a discolouration like this your best bet would bet a sun fade but I am always paranoid about sun fading plastic which has started to break down in this way as it can in fact make the breakdown worse and increase the tanning.

Oh dear.   Well, I'll just have to hope for the best then.  I hate to have her ruined.  :/

Yeah, Junior is REALLY prone to getting discolored.  I bought 3 that I wasn't really satisfied with.  The loose one had been played with; she was nice and white but had some small marks.  Then I bought 2 MIB ones; one was really badly discolored (the auction photo was blurry, so it was hard to tell till she arrived), and one was creamy, but not too bad.  I finally got a nice MIB one that's quite white, and at about the same time got a good deal on a mint loose one that's even whiter.  But it took me about a year to find these.  Eve is another G2 with the same problem.
Nirvana grails:  Reverse Gusty (upgrade), Peru Windy and Moonstone (upgrade), Brazil TAF upgrades, Argie Powder w/ white hair (upgrade), French Windy and Moondancer (upgrades), Spain TAF's, TE's, and piggies.  These are my biggest wants, but I'm looking for tons more nirvanas, especially Greeks, Brazilians, and Peruvians.  Feel free to PM me for sales or trades.  But please note that I'm also fairly picky.

Awww.  What a shame.

I guess other than sun fading there really isn't a cure?

Not really. I would warn that sometimes when a pony has discoloured like this sun fading can make it worse but its really the best shot at fixing it as well.
