Does anyone know how long it usually takes for an item (small envelope with SSC mini inside) shipped via USPS First Class International to arrive to a person in Australia?  I sold an item on eBay and the buyer is asking about it.  I shipped it the 1st and it was scanned in Chicago on the 3rd.  Since there is no tracking available for First Class, that is the last the customs number was scanned.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Personally being in Aus - i would say its around 3 weeks.  Things seem to be slowing now coming up to christmas (or so the lady at my PO told me). :)

Yeah I'd say about 2 weeks, maybe a bit more depending on the time of year.

It really does depend. I live in Australia, and have had things come many times from the US shipped USPS 1st class international, and have found anything from 4 days (which is not normal, that was extremely fast shipping for some reason) to a month or so. In general, 2 - 3 weeks is the norm.

It's only the 13th here, so the person should just wait for another week before she starts to panic about it. Anyone living here should know better when buying from overseas.

I can tell you that even within Australia at times I have had parcels take up to two weeks (ask spinky lol, she was the reciever of one of them that finally arrived after we were both in a panic about it) so 12 days is seriously nothing to worry about :)

it depends on where in the US to where in AUS,
but for small parcels about 2 to 3 weeks is  avrage.
larger parcels will talk longer dew to beeing held up in customs etc. .

i had a motorbike fuel tank shipped via USPS Priority Mail International, it took less time to get from us to aust (3days) than it did from arrival in aust to me (5 days). took a week for me to get something from west aust. our postal service is a disgrace, they have the monopoly, they do as they wish. on the other hand, i'm expecting something via first class int, it was sent on the 7th and still hasn't left the us. it's been processed through the miami sorting facility twice so far...

It completely depends! If the moon and stars are aligned I have had things arrive from LA in about 5-6 business days. I also had something from eBay take 12 weeks. Not kidding - I had given up hope on it and it just turned up one day.

On average I would say 2-3 weeks.

Honestly I think that Hurricane Sandy backed mail up going out of the country these past couple weeks.  It can normally take 1-2 weeks alone and with these delays, I think it is taking an extra week or two.

I would email them and explain that we had a major storm on the east coast here and it has backed mail up. I know when you check USPS's site they still have an announcement up about it.

This is what I told her.  It was processed in Chicago on the 3rd so that means it did leave ND, just no info past then.  I will call this morning just to appease her.  I hope this doesn't become a problem.  Especially if it hasn't left the states yet, with this last holiday weekend it would be delayed more.

Thanks everyone for the comments, I feel better now.  I just hope she doesn't start freaking out on me lol.

I'm really surprised it was scanned at all once it left your state. You got lucky!

If it's a larger package, tell her those tend to take longer. Just keep responding promptly and assuring her that shipping time can vary and you hope she receives it soon.

It's only been 8 business days! If you sent it via priority international tell them to be patient :) I have heard that a lot of times once it leaves the US it doesn't get scanned in Aus and just turns up one day!
