FALSE. RUMOR: Disney Shopping around for Hasbro

Just a rumor... but... uh wow.  it would be weird to all the sudden be Disney-run MLP?

Well.....maybe will mean MLP merch is easier to find.  Every where I go when I am looking for MLP bits I find tonnes and tonnes of Disney merch!!

it would cause a monopoly after a while but maybe that would also allow/ encourage smaller independent toy companies to step up their game

Hasbro is doing rather well right now they do have their own T.V, channel and they're producing Merch like no one's bissness. But it would be cool if they worked together on some stuff, like plushies

I would be very surprised if this turned out to be true. They have spent a metric ton of money between the Marvel and Star Wars acquisitions and the Hasbro IPs would not be cheap. That being said if it did happen I could definitely see the quality of the products increasing greatly as Disney makes some very nice quality figures, plushies and other collectibles. Not to mention the possibility of a Pixar My Little Pony movie and Disneyland/Disneyworld attractions!

I'm rather brought to mind of the old James Caan Rollerball movie (cheesy, yet fun), where, in the opening spiel, we're told that six corporations: energy, transportation, communication, housing, food and luxury, are in control of the world... but maybe I've just been thinking along too many dystopian lines lately.

Anyway, Disney can merchandise the snot out of anything, so sure, bring on the Pony Merch!  I'll buy.

America already exists in a series of monopolies, they just hide it from the public view. Most tv channels can all be traced to being owned by one or two big companies, or a few smaller companies which are also in fact owned by the larger companies...

Disney pretty much owns it all already, I'm not surprised they didn't stop with film companies and are now moving into toys.
