G2 Unicorns, how rare are they?
« on: December 02, 2012, 08:38:09 PM »
I recently started looking into the G2 line and I have fallen in love with the unicorns...however they are apparently as hard to find as real unicorns *flops over*
does anyone know much about them?

If you're not in Europe, they will be somewhat hard to come by. The ponies are not impossible to get, only this lady is really difficult

Well all I can say that their wings are really difficult to find >.> are are often more expensive than the pony itself

I didn't even know that variation of Golden Glow existed! She's lovely. :)

The G2 unicorns are fairly hard to come by as they were European exclusives. The accessories are even harder to come by (the combs especially as they're tiny).

There do pop up on eBay every now and again but I haven't seen any in a while. If you're the adventurous type they pop up on the French eBay more often.

However, Silver-Swirl IS available in the USA because she was part of the last set of ponies to be released over there. Every other Unicorn was a Euro-only release, and as their wings are hair clips and not always seen as MLP items, they are a pain to come by.

Personally I don't find them too hard to get ahold of, or at least, to find them for sale. Their prices vary from £4 for Silver Glow (with the swirls) up to £20-odd for lil' miss Golden Light as shown above. The really weird one I found was the 'earth pony' version of Silver Glow that was released!

I agree they are tough to find and some of the more expensive of the generation but they are no where near as expensive as ponies in G1 which are equally as rare...if that makes sense? They are so gorgeous its understandable why they are popular.

You are best watching sites like ebay UK as that's where they turn up most often.

I never knew that! :o You learn something new every day.

I always thought that Silver Swirl was one of the most sought after G2s (she is very pretty, after all) but eBay says that one went for £2.50 at the end of November. I've been out of the G2 loop too long.

I've been trying to find her and the ones I have seen have gone for about $10.  I still haven't bought one yet though.

Interesting post! I've also been thinking about G2 unicorns lately. Is there any pink/fucsia G2 unicorn? Any good reference G2 site to see all the unis available?

Here's a list of all the G2 unicorns (what few there are anyway).  I think Golden Glow II and Diamond Glow are tied for rarest, but I could be wrong.  Silver Swirl seems to be the most common, but it can sometimes be a challenge to find her with flawless symbols.

And, as mentioned before, the wings are much harder to acquire than the pony itself usually.
