Sewing qustion / rehair
« on: July 15, 2012, 06:17:28 PM »
OK I am wanting to finish this Dall for some one and it is well not a doll now that I look at it. It is a Plush but I still love the idea of using yarn to give it hair as if it was a dall. I am making it for some one and need to finish it soon but with any luck she is patient.

I need to know how to put the hair on without it looking too thick? It is different for a plush since the yarn is thicker than doll hair right? Oh and one last qustion if I made house shoes for it how far should they come up?

I would think you'd knot the yarn then stitch a seam up with the knots inside.

Or take yarn and line it up in a straight line on the table, then seam them together by gluing or stitching. You can then stitch that single row of yarn inside the head seam, just make sure the fabric is pulled back on the other side when you do it so you get a clean look :)

This right here is what my grandmother did when she made plush animals for me. She would line the hair on the inside, and I want to say she put just a touch of fabric glue. Haha, then she would do the seam with the hair. Least I'm thinking that was it, it's been such a long time.

Good luck!  It seems that you already sewed it up, but I think the best way for hair is to put in in before sewing.  I like embroidery floss on plush ponies, but yarn is also cute.  Good luck!
