"Stair" Display Ideas
« on: June 24, 2012, 05:40:52 AM »
So I have alot of different collections (Yes I would probably classify as a hoarder by some XD). But nevertheless I still love how I now have a posibility to display them all throughout the house.

Right now I'm trying to get all my Yankee Candles displayed and I've used the "stair" display technique because I like it :) I have them displayed ontop of bookshelves and I've used old VHS tapes to get the back ones higher up.
However now I've ran out of VHS tapes and I still have a bunch of candles to display XD

So my question to you all is if you have any great ideas what to use to elevate the back rows of collections you display to create the stair effect?

As for Yankee Candles they can get pretty heavy so that ruled out my idea of using empty boxes of things since they most likely would get squashed. So I need something else as strong as VHS tapes.

I would also like to get ideas on what to use when displaying ponies using the stair technique since I will be getting to that in a bit :)

So please let me know if you have any ideas. It will be appriciated greatly! :)

Hmmm.  Maybe ordinary wooden planks you can pick up at the hardware store?

I saw a tutorial floating around here for making your own risers.  Anyone got that?

My hubby and I are major toy collectors. We use spice racks to display our stuff. I put a link of our collection pics so you get an idea of how they look.

I checked your link and WOW that's an amazing collection you got there :)

I do also love the spice racks you used. They are like made for displaying ponies XD Where did you find those ones? :)

We got those particular ones at Walmart for $5 each. I'm sure you can find something similar at almost any similar type store. The worst part is trying to find the amount we need. We currenty need about 40 more and each Walmart we go to has like 6 a week tops. Good thing there are 3 Walmarts close by.

Well, we eat a lot of cereals so I use cereal boxes to make the stairs. It looks a bit wonky but it can be really stable if you use them well, and then I cover them with some nice cloth and voila! :)

I used a bunch of cases I found cheap when I bought a bunch of beanie babies.  The cases were used to keep the beanie babies safe and clean but if you clean them on their sides you can put little things in the inside and stack ponies on top of them and in front of them. :)
