Gardning anyone Picture heavy
« on: June 11, 2012, 05:38:58 PM »
Show pictures of your garden. Please :P

I have a small area for potted plants and gone ahead and did 8 tomato plants in 5 gallon buckets and about several pepper plants. I also did herbs and spices. I am doing a lot of seeds in peat pots for my mothers garden to get her started too since she has a much larger area than I do. Yea its crowded.

Its a lot of work keeping a container garden, (requires more frequent watering and such) but it is so worth it!! There is nothing like the taste of fresh tomato's warm off the vine!

I started out the same way with 5 gallon buckets   I have a little fenced yard out back of my apartment. Last year I upgraded from buckets to the Topsy Turvy planters. I picked up an old swing set off craigslist for $20 and spray painted it. :)

The first one is one of those tomato Topsy turvy's with the herb side ports, In addition to the cherry tomato plant I have Rosemary, German Thyme and Sage, the middle one I left the plastic top off the planter and have tomato plants growing out the top as well as the bottom, the last planter also has the side ports so in addition to the tomato plant I also have Basil, Cilantro and Parsley growing out of it. Every one loves spaghetti night at my place during the sumer as the sauce tastes so good with fresh picked herbs! Oh and on the end I have two hanging pots the one in the back is a Stevia plant and the purple one in front is a purple basil plant which is so good in tea as it has a licorice flavor to it. :)

The first TT planter is a pepper planter which I have mini heirloom green peppers growing in, the second and fourth planters are strawberry plants the third TT has regular green peppers. The fifth planter is a Morning glory Topsy turvy, I have Lemon Balm growing out the bottom port and on top I have Chamomile, Spearmint and Chocolate Mint and the little planter hanging on the middle divide has regular Mint. :) I love making sun tea with fresh picked mint!

I don't have pictures of them but Ialso have a couple of blackberry bushes I'm trying to grow in five gallon buckets. Just because you don't have land or can't plant in the ground doesn't mean you can't have a garden. :) I'm looking forward to seeing everyones gardens!

Ahhh... I wish I was gardening.

I had a very nice garden in Texas.  I grew a lot of herbs, aloe plants, and vegetables.  I was a bit like Ouiser Boudreaux; I grew tomatoes wen though I don't eat them.  Cookies if you get that.  XD

Wow three types of basil. I usually stick with one.
