Why not My little phony?

I've thinking about MLP terms and it got me wondering why fakies are called that and not My little phony.

because it is shorter and people don't think you are saying pony instead of phony

I like Fakies best because it's cute and slightly complimentary, because some are cute.  even though they are fake.

Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to say we should call them that, I was just wondering why we call them what we call them.

I like that name a lot better than "fakies."    I personally don't really care for most "phony ponies," honestly.  Some of them can be cute, but a lot of them look awkward to me, and they're just not as phun as phinding phabulous ponies.

I guess its just one of those things. "Fakies" is quicker and easier to type and more all encompassing than my little phoney...you cant call the fakie Pretty Pal friends "phoneys" they would have to be fakies so I guess its just easier all round!

I asked something very similar not long after I joined the arena- I can't remember if it was My Little Phony or Phony Ponies. Fakies does have its advantages as far as clarity and word length, so it makes sense to use it here,  but in my head they're all phony ponies.

So when you hear a buddy across the fleamarket call, "Phony", you don't think they said "PONY"!  ;D
