I just acquired over 2,000 G1 ponies....no kidding!

Wow. My advice is to take it slow as not to get stressed out. Unless you desperately need the space or the money you don't really have a deadline. The very idea of having to liquidate 2000 ponies overwhelms me. Good luck!

I have a large collection, and my family has been instructed to allow two close collector friends to choose whatever they like from the room for themselves as a fee in exchange for helping my family sell the rest.

Losing someone to cancer is horrendous and takes a long time to heal, but I promise you, it does get easier.

Hey, thanks for all the advice and kind words about Helen, truly.  I do have them grouped by type....so if anyone is trying to start an Army, i can probably help.  Not too huge of numbers on the more HTF ones, but if you are hoping to start the Blossom Brigade or something like that, let me know!  I've started putting them on ebay; and am making separate posts to get rid of things that take up a lot of space like structures and plushes.  Paradise Estate anyone???  I will take a bunch to the VA pony meet in August, but don't want  to have to haul a bunch there and have to bring half of it back home.  If anyone is ever in Northern VA, please, please come visit!  I promise a free goodie bag to everyone!  Also, anyone who collects Mattel Pretty Kitties or those Lady Lovely Locks hair barrette creatures, LMK...I've got a bunch.

group them by price for pics. ie take a pic of 10 ponies or so at a time, and say every pony in this pic is $6 and every pony in that pic is $10
and say price based on condition.
so if pony A is normally worth $20 and you have it in the $5 group, it obviously has flaws OR you're just underpricing everything in order to get it sold

I want a pic of the merry go round thing - I think I remeber seeing it or hearing someone in the community had it at one point...

VA Beach is a couple hours from where I live. A couple hours is SO not too far for such amazing pony goodness though! Just to see that many G1s sounds incredible. O_O

That is so sad to hear. My aunt is battling breast cancer and she's got young kids, it's so hard to watch that process.

It's funny but I'm not sure if getting 2000+ponies sounds like a great dream or a terrible nightmare. That's a LOT of hair. I like to imagine that I'm shoveling through mountains of ponies (with a soft shovel) and fill a bucket with Mountain Boy ponies. I also have a mining hat with a light on it in this mental image.
