How did you all decide to make your army? Show me pics!

Like most ponies here, I latched onto a particular pony, and soon found that I couldn't get enough of her!  Fizzy wasn't my favorite as a kid; it was actually Stardancer.  Once I started collecting again as an adult though, she slowly became my #1.    Another reason I absolutely adore her is her color scheme!  It reminds me of mint and bubblegum.

I have a gusty army because my parents accidentally threw out my baby gusty as a child (she was my favorite). I tore the house apart looking for her. Then one of my friends bought me a baby gusty off of ebay. Ever since that, I've wanted to keep trying to find Gusty to make up for the poor one that is probably in a garbage dump somewhere.

If I'm ever given the opportunity, I will definitely amass a Pony hooves and lyra army as well.

It all started with one.

Then... somehow/somewhere, I started to get some doubles (with my hunting trips and just couldn't leave behing the pony), from it, scalated a little with the few lots I've bought...

And then it started that I just love some ponies and can't get rid of any of them (Mexican Blossom), Masquerade, Braided Beauty (the really intentional armies).  And then, deciding I can't leave behind any Mexican pony behind that came near me.  My biggest army at the moment is Mexican Blossom with 11 adults, and 6 babies).

I'm not a fan of the people dolls from G1. But I am loving that Megan Sundance collection. I think it's really cool with each one of them in a different matching outfit. I love it.

And all the poor baity brothers fraternity LOL that's awesome. I've got a little bit of an army. I'll be running home tonight to take some pics, I'm sure.

She was the only G1 in a lot of fakies and a couple G3, and when I got her, I started looking up info about her.  She's actually what made me join the Arena; I'd been lurking for a while.

Somehow, I ended up with a handful of them, and when I got a free 'bait' one with a missing ear, and another one out of a bait box, I started buying mismatched bait Blue Belles just in case they were errors.

 About the time I traded Dabble for an error Blue Belle, I realized my collection priorities had changed.  I no longer wanted lots of ponies, I wanted lots of *Blue Belles*!

My army is only small, but it was mostly on purpose. When I rediscovered my childhood herd in the attic, all of them were NM/GC bar one poor little lady - Sunlight. I don't know how she got so discoloured, rusty and cancerous, but she was utterly bait material. Only the thought of customising her was abhorrent, and seeing so many other Sunlights being sold as 'bait' with less flaws than my own made me decide to rescue them! Now I've 6 Sunlights in varying conditions that have been fixed up to look beautiful I've also got 2 custom Sunlights, a magnet from Scraleos and various Sunlight artwork! While I mostly focus on rough, pre-loved Sunnies, I'm hoping to add foreign variants and a MOC to my army eventually.

Note: I'm not against G1s being used for customs, but only when they really ARE bait!

I was thinking it would be fun to have an 'Army Boost' swap sometime, maybe in winter. Where you make your partner 3 ponies of the ones they collect (or want to). Only one big one like a g1/g2/g3 and 2 smaller ones like a baby and a blind bag or McD's pony or something. Or even a plushie or a painting/drawing/adoptable.
