Right now I only know the straw curl :P
Any new suggestions would be appreciated!

You could try braiding it when it's wet to get braid waves.

I use Sponge Rollers :)

I like to use sponge rollers too especially when trying to recreate factory curl. I also use perm rods and of course straws. ;)

Well, variations of the straw curls... Smaller straws will result in tight curls, bigger straws will result in large curls. Leaving the roots unwrapped will give you curled ends, perfect if you're only going for some loose and wavy, natural looking curls. You can carefully comb the curls or separate the locks with your fingers, and/or pull the ends to make them looser and more natural instead of Candy Cane type curls. Also there are two ways of wrapping the hair: if the hair overlaps itself when you wrap it, the result will be different than if you flatten out the lock and make sure it doesn't overlap. The latter method works with the CC type curls, the first one will result in something wilder... :D

Also, I just learned it the hard way: if you wet the pony's hair and wrap it around its legs, you will get curly hair... In this case that was not what I wanted. Oh well... Anyway, that'd be perfect if you only wanted e.g. the tail to have this slight, factory style curl.

me three! various sizes of sponge curlers

i have also done the "wet braid" technique, but it gives more of a wavy look than actual curls

I love straws!  I can use one for tight curls, or band 5 together for huge ringlets.  I have rollers, but I fail at getting the hair off them without totally flubbing the whole thing.
