It depends on the flaw :) Id never reroot any of my childhood ponies (they dont have nasty haircuts, only some frizz ...) but if there was a mark which could easily be removed, Id do it. Some of my ponies do have marks I still remember from back then and how they got them. I dont remove those.

It depends for me, if I can fix them up without potentially ruining them, then I go ahead and do it. But major things like re-rooting I pass on.

Mine are still pretty clean, I only had one that I had to give a new forlock (but that's how I felt about my SHS...).

I've scrubbed the dirt and removed stray marks.  I've sunfaded pen off them.  But I don't think I would ever re-hair!

I've been conflicted whether or not to clean my childhood ponies as well.  lol.  I have cleaned some of them I got during later childhood, but I have never retouched or restyled my first ponies.  They could use a shampoo and a magic eraser, but I remember playing with them for hours and like Sugarminty said, I even remember how some of those marks got there so I don't think I would have the heart to remove them!

If I still had mine I think the only thing I'd do would be to clean dirt of them, anything else would have to stay as it was ;)

I don't have any childhood ponies left over, but I do have childhood breyer horses that could use some work/repainting/resculpting/reshaping. I don't think I could bring myself to do it, though. I believe the flaws are what make them...them! If I were to somehow find my childhood Sky Skimmer, I do remember she has one eye missing a jewel and a scratch on her symbol from my cat. I would still not fix her because she was just fine for me as a child, so she should stay that way. :)

I think I am in the same boat as most people on here. I have magic eraser-ed and conditioned their hair, but I have a Bouquet with pen marks that I was eager to sunfade at first, but just can't bring myself to for some reason. I think it may be because I actually have a faint memory of when I sat on the kitchen floor in my old house and drew all over her, though don't ask me why I thought it was a good idea at the time because I can't remember that for the life of me!

Nope, not me -- I love my childhood ponies, dirt, chew marks, electrocuted hair and all!

This reminds me -- I need to put out a PSA for my childhood ponies! They would have a star or a heart mark on their hooves, maybe with a JEN or JES as well.

Washing the dirt off, styling their hair and a lil magic eraser is as far as I've gone with mine.  I have no re-rooted any.

I've cleaned mine and styled their hair but that's all. I have a few well loved as ponies who could use a deflock, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

I actually ended up on this forum because I was looking for a way to clean up my childhood herd.
I need to continue that project actually. >> I get sidetracked easily.

I found my herd a while back, in the attic above our shed, where they'd fallen out of their stable and the mice had run all over and through them. They were terribly dirty due to that, and their hair was an absolute mess. Any marks they may have from childhood play, are firmly buried under a layer of grime. Since they need extensive cleaning and styling anyways, not to mention rust removal at times, I've decided to go all the way and restore them to the best of my ability. Luckily I wasn't one for cutting hair, so that's a non issue.

Alas I have none of mine any more...but I think if I did have them they would get a good clean and defrizz but no restoration if symbols or blush or hair needed work...

It depends. I do wash them and rub surface dirt off and I cleaned some on the inside to get rid of rust, but you won't find me rehairing or repainting childhood ponies :)
