Taobao Prototype/Variant List and Information

I added a Fashion Style section to the blog and updated.


There aren't nearly as many Fashion Style variants.  If Pony/Ditzy Doo and white Celestia are mysteriously absent from new product announcements in the upcoming months, I will add them in, too. Oh yeah, there seems to be no-tinsel versions of Pink Celestia floating around. I should investigate!


Also, there is a really hilarious pony. Sweetie Belle's head was just plopped on Rarity's body . I guess if you have a spare body and spare head, just sticking them together is better than leaving them in pieces  .


My next goals are to fix up and add new pictures in, and to collect info on unreleased blind bag variants.

I love it when they just stick random heads on stuff. I've seen so many RD bodies with g3 ponyville heads stuck on there selling as "rare RD variant!

It is a giggle...but weirdly it doesnt look as out of proportion as you would think!

Yeah they probably make the heads bigger on the babies because 1.) big head = cute and 2.) then they can make a 'one size fits all' kind of mold for the head plugs haha

Hasbro cutting corners to make things more economical on production...NEVER I say...I shall not believe it!

Surprisingly, the only colour similarity Twinkleshine and the Pink Uni have is with Twinkleshine's middle stripe of hair. It matches the pink unicorn's hair colour. They do both have pink bodies, but are not the same colour. There are a tonne of pink shades out there   Perhaps they meant to make Twinkleshine parts and messed up her colour, then needed something to do with the rejected parts.


Well, Minty and Sweetie Blue still may come out, they are certainly taking their time, though. Hopefully they do!

Minty and Sweetie Blue are the two big mysteries for me... Everything else I've ever seen on taobao could be practice runs or factory rejects... But those two looked so finalized! I can't imagine Hasbro would get to THAT stage in their development and THEN decide to scrap them! Maybe they're just waiting for the right time to put them out...

Yeah, they really do look like they should be a final product!  I was thinking maybe they scrapped Minty in favour of making Lyra, but they are different shades of green. Maybe they are waiting until next Christmas for her.

I certainly agree on Minty - she was a very complete product to just disappear and I still believe she will turn up as a "bolt" on to a product later this year [much as with SkyWishes]...but thats just my thoughts.

Sweetie Blue I am not as much convinced on...the way the tinsel was done and just something about her overall appearance didnt sit as finished as the Minty with me...but she certainly was pretty close! Again if she shows up in a similar style to Starbeam Twinkle I wont be too shocked.
