Question about sending back a pony and getting money back
« on: March 26, 2012, 08:04:31 AM »
So... I have a doubt.

Normally how does it work when you get a pony with flaws not mentioned by the seller and you want the money back? You get your money back first and then you send the pony? Or do you wait until the seller gets the pony back for you to get the money transfered to your account?

Thanks for your help!

If this was an ebay sale then it most definitely wouldn't be till the pony arrived back to the seller.  But there are circumstances where sellers have allowed the buyer to go ahead and keep the merchandise along with the refund.  In that case I would assume within 24 to 48 hours it would be processed.   I am semi going off  what I would do but that's usually how it works.

Hope that helps!

Hm. That's tough on the arena. I mean neither of you want to send the pnoy or the money without gurantee that the other side will get it back.  People do it either way, that's just something you and the other eprson will have to work out.

Normally, I would assume you return the pony first and the refund is processed once the seller receives it.  But yes, it is how you work everything out with your seller.

However, I would not worry if the seller asks you to send the pony back first, since that is very common.  In extreme cases, you can ask a neutral third party (mod perhaps (?)) to hold the funds for the two of you until the seller receives the item and you have shipped.  That way neither of you would be at the mercy of the other.

Good luck!

Yes, I would assume that the refund would be back with you after the pony arrived back with the seller...but at the same time I understand why not everyone would be comfortable with that...you would really have to trust your seller...

Could you not try a 50/50 split...the seller refunds you 50%, you send the pony and on its receipt by the seller they send you the remaining 50% balance? Either that or as Stormy suggests I would try a third party involved as middle person to "hold" the sellers refund to you until the pony was received by the seller.

When I return something ebay or arena, I send the pony back first with delievery confirmation.
That way you know the seller got the pony back and you can start to expect your refund.

For more expensive ponies I'd use signature required delivery.

are you are definitely sure that you want to do a return for a full refund? or  you and your seller can work out a partial refund if you prefer to keep the pony, but it isnt worth what you paid due to the unexpected flaws :awake:
if you want to have a refund, then normally you  as the buyer , would send the pony back with tracking/delivery confirmation/signed for  - that way you know when the pony has arrived safely back to the seller, and also the seller can can track it while its on its way back so they know for sure that you sent it.  when the seller has the pony again, then they would give you the full refund.    Thats how it usually works, but if you wanted to go with Hathorcat or Stormy's suggestions, then that would be ok as well :)
