McDonald's giving out old ponies in addition to new ones?

ah so a friend of mine wanted me to pick up some mcd's ponies for him. I asked for whatever different ponies they had and the cashier gave me three. I noticed as I was paying that there were two Applejacks which I assumed was a mistake, but I'm too shy to say anything so I paid for them all.


When I got in the car, I saw that they were indeed three different toys. I got Applejack and Cheerilee from the first set (with the plastic base-combs) and Applejack from the new set. Has this happened to anybody else? Is it common for McDonald's to mix old toys with new toys if they look similar enough? I can't believe they had any left--that first set came out over a year ago, didn't it?

Hmm, I wouldn't mind it if I got last year's toys. They look a bit better (no big giant THING on their heads) but I can see why that would upset people who've already gotten the set.

I don't think they children would care though I guess.

Oh, I don't mind at all! I can give them to friends who missed the first set and don't want to blow money for them on eBay. I just found it strange is all.

It could be that someone had exchanged the old stock ponies for the new ones.

My local Mcd's let me trade a Pinky Pie For an Apple Jack last week.

The person at the register didn't really look at the toy I was exchanging either. :/

Maybe a few collectors brought in spares from last year to exchange for the new ones they needed, and the McD employees just tossed them in with the rest?

You can do that? That's pretty cool actually. I wish I had extra ponies from last year that are still in the bag.

I think because MLP is SO popular this McD run compared to last that they're recycling old stock when the new stuff runs out. One of the McD's near me has NO pony toys left at all, and others have apparently started dipping into last year's leftovers. I'm sure their reasoning is that they're advertising pony toys, so as long as it's a pony, it's good lol!

I heard this was happening, a Friend of mind said it was mentioned on another website most likely because last year they ordered too much stock of the ponies.. so since the promotion this year is winding down it's likely they want to try and get rid of the old stock too

This happened to me also, I got last years Rainbow Dash which I was excited to receive. I went back later that night hoping for last years and they had more of the 2012 ponys.

Yeah sometimes I would get a happy meal and get a random toy that they didn't have any longer, like a Shrek doll or whatever.  Sometimes I think they just have old stock.

Today I got a McDonalds Celestia, base and all. One of my friends also received one, strangely enough. They are probably trying to get rid of their old McDonalds toys from last year.

Didn't somebody last year get a G3 Pony from 2006 in a Happy Meal?

Yeah sometimes I would get a happy meal and get a random toy that they didn't have any longer, like a Shrek doll or whatever.  Sometimes I think they just have old stock. 

What happens is that when they run out of that week's toy they replace it with back stock from other promotions

A few weeks ago I got a 2011 Cheerilee. I liked it actually because I only had Pinkie Pie from last year's set. Wish I could find more at my local McDonalds but I don't want to make the effort for such a small hope.
