Taking apart Ploomette
« on: March 22, 2012, 12:25:45 PM »
I'm not quite sure how appreciated this is here ^^; but I guess I'll go ahead and post it anyways.
I've just recieved a Ploomette from a trade...when suddenly I find out she's here in stores! Now I absolutely wanted her little pet peacock, so I had two ploomettes
What do you do then? You take it apart to see what's up with this pony. And if I could possibly costumize some neat wings onto her.

The plug with the wings is made of hard plastic. The plug is actually made out of two pieces too. I haven't been able to separate those pieces yet. As you can see there are two metal bars holding the wings in place. Maybe I could pull them out and free the wings?
As you can see this pony is pretty solid inside. Normally where you pull out the plug and see the rest of the body, this plughole just ends to a flat stop.
The tail cannot be freed from this point. Maybe if I separate the two hard plastic pieces I can reach it, but I wouldn't know how to do that.

Has anyone ever taken apart a glimmer wing pony? I'm not quite sure where to go from this ^^;

Huh... that's really interesting! I've always wondered what the inside of a glimmer pony looked like.

Lol...if you took her apart to possible customise, good idea...if you took her apart "just because" then thats weird! He he he...to each there own!!

I suppose the big plug of plastic makes sense...there has to be something to counterbalance the wing weight...

Good luck getting that tail out it looks like a toughy!

The wings plug looks like it didn't want to come out! How well was it in there?

Somebody has to do all the weird things ;) Don't worry, she's not going to waste ^_^ I am gonna costumize her into something neat. I'm just looking through all the options and how far I can take her apart.

Everything that is attached to the wings is the plug. There's tiny bits of soft plastic attached to it because it was glued in really well. I guess it's just like the headplug glued to the body, but it goes much deeper.

Thanks for sharing. I was curious about the Glimmer Wings. I think I'll leave mine alone and customize another pony with her cutie mark!

Hey...I am not judging...nothing wrong with a little curiosity! I just think its weird how differently we treat each generation...respect the elders and all that!

LOL, I posted a thread like this a couple of months ago. I took apart the Rarity. If you don't carve the whole thing out of her she looks like this:

That is quite interesting! So basically the upper part of the wings plug contains the metal bars that hold the wings, and the lower part holds the tail. Neato :)

Perhaps you could drill out the tail and put a plug of hair in there?
