No US shipping because of paypal fees...?

Say what?  I'm so confused.  I asked a seller in Europe if he would ship a pony to the US, and he said no because of paypal fees...  Huh?  I've never heard of this, can someone make sense of this for me?

There's a paypal fee for every transaction, but it is a larger one that gets tacked on to international transactions, maybe that's what they're referring to?

There are fees now on shipping....maybe by the time she charges you X on shipping and paypal takes their fees on an international shipping price it starts getting too expensive for the seller - i.e. she looses too much on the shipping fees because international shipping is higher than on domestic?

If shes in the UK give me a shout I ll happily be a middle woman for you!

Or I suppose she could offer to add her paypal shipping fees on top of the shipping price...but I know technically that is not allowed and perhaps the seller worries that a buyer may rank her low on shipping if she doesnt charge exactly what is says on the parcel

Probably the international transaction sucks up most of the money, as hathorcat pointed out.  That, and too many international buyers file claims long before the item COULD arrive... and even if both parties are assisted to satisfaction during a claim, Paypal takes ANOTHER fee for "customer service".

It could be the currency conversion....here are extra fees for coverting.

I never ceased to be amazed at how greedy paypal and ebay is.  Honestly, I prefer to deal in cash/checks/money orders just because of all the fees you can avoid.  O.o  Such a pity too - the seller has some HTF ponies for very cheap.

I ship international and will continue to do so, but I've had to tack on a higher than normal handling fee (for U.S I add a dollar for packaging materials, gas, ect) just to cover the shipping fee. Have to think of it like this- the higher the shipping costs, the higher the fee. Ebay is just stupid, and have no idea what they are doing.

*sigh* yeah I do a lot of international sales and the fees do suck.  You have to make sure you set a price (or start the auction off already at a price) that isnt going to mean a loss after all those fees come out
