Has Munchy's value drastically gone up in the past year?
« on: March 06, 2012, 10:39:02 AM »

I have a Munchy I'm considering parting with due to fundraising and tried researching her value on ebay. I was expecting maybe $50-$60. The only one I saw listed on the entire site (by name, didn't search lots) was BIN @ $100! :faint:  Is she really worth that much or is the seller just having high hopes lol And could I get a more accurate price check on this lovely girl? I know Munchy is one of the more sought after TAF ponies but worth as much as Mimic?! That I wasn't expecting. :drunk:

It's not for definite that I will sell her since she was a birthday gift one year and I'm very sentimentally attached but I'd just like to know for future reference. Thank you in advance! :bigups:

Tax return season = pony prices increase.  G4 = has increased popularity of G1s.

I sold one about a month ago - $40 for her and the last one on ebay I saw was about $50

She is always sought after but you can never go by buy it nows - they arent indicative of what people will spend just what a seller would like to get...

Thanks for all the advice.
LBS: That's very true. I hadn't thought of the FiM G4 boom possibly increasing the popularity of the G1s, thus driving up value.

kittybethy: That's about what I thought she was going for $40-$50 range.

hathorcat: Another good point! BINS are never indicative of actual worth but what the seller hopes to sell them for. Thanks everypony!

I'm kicking myself right now. I have a Munchy, and I took her head off a few years ago to fix her rattling tail. I never put her head back on for some reason, and now I can't find it! I just have a headless Munchy body :S

The "I want one right now" price would be around $65-75, and climbing.  The "I have the patience to wait and maybe pick one up in a lot with the hopes she will be in good condition and I didn't just waste my money" price can be lower.

As always, it comes down to how much patience you have.  And yes, I would have to agree that prices do - and will always - rise with the introduction of each new pony generation and the passing of time.  Each new generation adds collectors to the pot, but the number of G1, G2, and G3 ponies in circulation decreases yearly, and will never rise.
