Hmm, it almost looks too red to be pony cancer. Is it that red in real life or is it more brown?I doubt that it's mold because that tends to have a dot in the middle.What I'd do; behead the adult ponies and take the tails out. Soak them in oxy clean or equivalent (best way to try and prevent any spread), and then sunfade the marks. I'm not sure whether it's safe to soak the baby as I know that it's a different kind of plastic, and I also don't know whether you can behead it.I have ponies with all kinds of marks, including some with mold, and I've never had a problem with anything spreading.
It doesn't sound like a pony problem then, it sounds like an ink problem.I wouldn't necessarily go as far as oxy clean unless you think they need a good spruce up, just crack on with the sunfading.
