There have been quite a few ebay auctions when I got into a bidding war and paid way more than I wanted lol. And more than the pony was technically worth. Ebay is evil like that! XD
Thank you Thimble for my amazingly cute avatar!

There've been many times I've bid on a lot because the seller hasn't had clear pictures and I "thought" I saw a special pony, which is mostly hidden, sticking out (and apparently others thought the same thing because they kept bidding me up) only to win it and find it's not the pony I thought it was.

Um, thinking Creamsicle was like forty bucks and freaking out when I won her for fifteen on eBay, but it wasn't so much a mistake because I paid reg price for her.

I honestly don't think I had any. I do feel silly that I still have to look up the names of a lot of ponies I get though.

Fully submerging ponies in water to clean them... thankfully any resulting tail rust is easy to deal to!

getting in a bidding war over bubbles but she is a pretty pony. I still have her. Umm paying 15 dollars on medley when I really didnt know what her average price was. Dunking ponies in oxy clean and ruining a batch.. some turned into custom ponies. :/ I don't use oxy clean for cleaning anymore.

I don't think I've done anything too horrible...The silliest thing I probably did was repair and rehair a chewed up Pinkie Pie when I first got here....but to be fair, at the time I only had, like, 4 ponies, so they were all special and I couldn't just bait her like everyone told me, lol.
Probably my biggest newbie "mistake" was thinking I could actually win any of those big G1 lots on ebay, and getting sincerely upset when each one went out of my $60-tops price range :P

I customize more than collect, so I'm always looking for the cheapest ponies I can get so I haven't made any mistakes like paying too much for a common pony... But I'm afraid that one day I'm going to somehow get a rare pony and not realize it, and then chop its hair off and customize it and stuff... hah!

Bought a bag of G3s at a thrift store for $10, there was some weird looking pony in there I didn't recognize. Asked the Arena what kind of fakie she was.

She was Diamond Dreams.

As a newbie, I thought I had wanted an "only mint" collection, so I looked for ponies on eBay that had been spruced up, some of their hair even had conditioned curls (yuck!). None of them had any marks whatsoever, but it took me forever to get one pony because of the quality and price!
Now I am OK with great to mint ponies. Not just mint. And I am not spending like $15 per pony, anymore!!

My first pony was baby Cherries Jubilee for $30. She's perfect except for a small haircut. I am still not sure if this is overpriced, though. >.<

Not so much a mistake, more a regret. I saw a lot of three G1's on eBay for $15 bin, and thought it was too much. It sold, so I looked up the ponies prices, and realized that the Diamond Dreams in that lot was worth a whole lot more :faint:
