A Pretty Huge Undertaking!

Since my thread about pony insurance ( http://mlparena.com/mlp/index.php/topic,288818.0.html ) I've taken on a bit of a project. It was sort of already in place to a degree but it just expanded I have an inventory of all my ponies with prices paid and an ongoing photo project but I just decided that I'm going to be keeping receipts for ponies in future, something I haven't done til now. But the anally retentive side of me needs to go through my PayPal account and print of information for all my pony purchases! And I found out that it goes RIGHT BACK to when I first started collecting! I wouldn't have though PayPal would have kept the info that long but apparently they do! So I'm going to store copies of them and make sure my prices are accurate on my inventory as some were estimates where I'd forgotten exactly what I'd paid for a pony. As well as this I'm behind with my photo inventory so I need to get that up to date, which means... dum dum duuuuum! GROOMING! Gah! I'm so behind with grooming lol! I also need to find out pony values which aren't necessarily what I paid for them!


So yeah, just though I'd share my insanity. I think I'm slightly OCD! Anyone else feel the need to document things in this way?

I would love to do this but every time I think about it I freeze in terror...I think if I can ever get everything photographed and sorted it might be easier but I am months and months away from that!

I wish you luck sweetie! That will be a pretty awesome document when you are done...

I definitely feel this way, but since most of my pony purchases were in-store PayPal can't help me too much. It's really great that they have the records you need for insurance purposes; that sounds so convenient!

Wow, that is a lot of work, Sarah-bee! I bet it feels good to be organized though.


I do weird things like every time I get a pony I add it to a spreadsheet, with any interesting information such as their hoof number.


I am not sure what all I will do with most of this data, but it is very satisfying to keep records of it.  I was hoping to compile information about and ultimately come up with a good guide to the G4 "Taobao ponies" that have been popping up, since a lot of people seem to ask questions about them.

I've done all the Paypal accounts and even managed to uncover a forgotten account lol! That said, it's a complete mystery to me how I paid for some ponies in the past! I know I started paying by cheque so obviously won't have any records of them but I know that there were online transactions before the first ones I've found *scratchy head moment* Ah well, I knew I wouldn't get them all from the past, but I definitely intend to keep them for all future purchases

That would be way too much work for me and I'm not very interested in documenting stuff. Good on you for having the patience to do it though^^

I started cleaning all my 650+ G1s a couple of years ago... but I still have about 100 to do!  I took a break in the middle though and haven't done any for about 9 months.  I thought ahead to a certain extent and already have G3-G4 lists showing accessories, prices, dates I got them etc just because I'd already started with the G1 ponies way back, well, they all had a "birthday" ie the date I got them :p
