14 pony makeover (before+after photos)
« on: February 28, 2012, 01:27:27 PM »
14 of the ponies from my previous thread have been cleaned and styled. It was shocking how dirty they were! Though it was all just surface dirt/ dust that cleaned off with ease :)

Here is Speedy before. Not too bad, just her hair looked awful!

A quick wipe clean, her washed and left to dry turned her into this lovely girl :)

Gingerbread was a lovely crystal white when she arrived... only she was a bit sticky

But a wash and hair styling did the trick :)

Sweet Stuff was great dispite her hair :D

 And after she was beautiful!

Majesty's head and body didn't quite match up
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Thankfully a clean made it unnoticable :)

Windy's symbols were lovely and glittery, only her legs were in the wrong position make her fall over

Unfortunetly I have been sofar unable to completely straighten her legs, however, they have greatly improved. Plus, it makes her look like G4 Applejack in her leg cross position. I quite like it! X3

Buttons was lovely dispite her birds nest hair!

She was one of the first three ponies who's hair I have tried to curl (the others being Cherries Jubilee and Tornado). I think she came out quite nicey :)

Honeycomb looks glorious in her before photo and even in real life I thought "wow, look for clean and white she is!"
Only... she wasn't! She was actually COVERED in dust and surface dirt to the point that it looked natural on her. It was only when I started cleaning that I realised how mucky she was.

She cleaned up great though, the photo does not do her justice.

Baby Tiddilly Winks concerned me. She was slightly discoloured and I was worried it was going to be permenant.

No need to be worried though, she cleaned up lovely!

Cherries Jubilee tail had been plaited and she had a few marks on her, such as that black mark on her mouth
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

One of my first attempts at curls and I got all the marks off her :D

Up, Up and Away was in lovely condition and her hair so pink! X3
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

And cleaned up to be gorgeous. The photos don't show up her pink very well.

Gusty was lovely and only needed a quick clean ^^

 After she was beautiful :D

A personal favorite of mine, Snowflake has a special place in my collection, especially with her mint symbols :D
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

 She's so cute ^^

Tornado's hair was lovely and pink (his tail especially!) but was in an awful mess
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

After trying out curling I think he looks much better :D

Ice Crystal was lovely before but needed a bit of TLC :)

After, he is a stunner! (only, that bit of hair moved on purpose just as I positioned him T^T )

And to finish, my three boys together (Sun Burst was bought a few weeks ago)

Wow amazing transformation. The hair of the ponies is amazing! How do you het the hair to stand wide? If i wash the hair and let it dry it don't have volume and is jusy sleak. I really wany to know how you create such volume and let it sten wide. If i make any sense.

Wow, they all cleaned up great! How did you get those looser open curls? I use curlers and they're always really tight, I like yours!

Thank you :D

Moondancer:
When washing their hair I use intense repair conditioner, I don't suppose the make would matter but I always use intense repair. I brush the conditoner in and let it sit. I usually do a group of ponies at a time so the conditioned ponies sit for about 5-10 mins with conditioner in their hair while I work on others (impatient me!).

Once the the conditioner has been on the pony a little while I wash it out (water temperature, doesn't matter. Usually cold so I don't use up all the hot water!). Once all conditioner is washed out I give them a quick pat with the towel to get the excess water off. Then I brush their hair into the style I want (I use a round brush with soft bristles). Once the hair has been groomed (and still damp) I place it around the ponies neck, then place kitchen roll over their hair and around the neck, securing it with an elastic band.

Leave them over night and the next day they are ready to be unveiled. Remove the paper and bands. Groom the hair out (from the underside, that's why I love the round brush). Your pony should how have lovely hair :D

PonySeeker:
It was a new try-out for me :D
I washed the ponies hair the same as I did in the above methhod. The only difference is the kitchen roll wrap.
Rather than just putting the hair around the neck of the pony I use a large drinking straw (about the size of three/four regular straws together) and wrap the hair around that. It can been tricky and may take a few tries before the hair is nicely wrapped up. Sometimes I think it helps to have someone hold the pony (Especially if they have an awkward pose!).

When hair is wrapped up nicely hold it in place with a rubber band (keeping the drinking straw in) and leave the dry overnight. Once dry undo the wrap (I find it easiest to remove to straw first) then use your fingers to adjust the hair (using a brush tends to mess it up a bit).

Sorry for the long explinations! Hope it helps :)

Thanks for giving me hope that my Majesty's color mismatch could be temporary.  Love the curls!
