To Rehair or not to rehair
« on: February 25, 2012, 01:09:50 AM »
I have an adult Sugarberry and a Baby Sugarberry. My baby is missing some plugs, and the adult has cut hair and was in a bait lot.

I have NO PLANS whatsoever to sell them at all. So should I go ahead and rehair them or not? I am concerned only about "messing them up" is there even a remote chance that may happen?

If you feel confident enough to do it then go ahead. I rehaired a G1 Wind Whistler and a Snowflake I got, near perfect condition, just hairless =p

I love rehairing ponies!  I think that because they are your girls, you should do whatever you want.  I personally love rehaired ponies, they look better than bald/scantly haired!

I agree with rehairing them too. I think as long as you mark them being rehaired it should be fine. I just can't see ponies with very little hair almost bald not being rehaired. But if they have a few plugs missing I would leave too. I don't think it would bother me. Though it is your pony to do with whatever you want.

My personal view...replacing a few plugs doesn't make a negative difference. Rehairing because of baldness or very short haircut, totally understandable and isn't "messing them up" since they're already messed up. Rehairing because of a haircut, but the hair is still a somewhat OK length, I'd leave it, but I think that opinion will depend on who you ask moreso than the other two situations, but I think plenty of other collectors would do the same or be OK with it if you ever sold it.

I would re-hair the adult if there's a bad cut, she's common enough.
If baby is only missing a few plugs and Mom has enough extra tail hair that's long enough to donate, why not just reuse that hair?
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

I vote for rehair too on the adult pony :)  With the baby it would be best to just do the few missing plugs rather than rehair her completely , although the color might be a toughie to match. Ask in the customs forum about color matching her ;) .
If you are worried about your rehairing skills, practise on some real baity ponies first, or ask someone who is good at rehairing to do it for you. There are lots of people here who could help :relaxed:

I say go for it, but just be sure to pull the hair out from the inside. The first time I tried restoring a pony, I pushed her hair out with a needle and ripped the head. Now Heart-Throb has quite the massive bald spot. XD I have a pair of hemostats now, though.
