The thing I noticed though is that the G3 pony is Lickity Split while the G1 pony is Lickety Split.
I don't really know why they decided to change the E to an I, but..  :blink:

This.   I don't believe Hasbro lost the copyrights/trademarks/what-have-you at all.  I think they fed Lauren Faust a line of legal mumbo-jumbo so she would THINK they had . . . because they wanted to continue using the G3 characters they had invested so much advertising $$$ into.

For having "lost the rights", Hasbro certainly has been plastering the image of many G1 ponies--INCLUDING FIREFLY--all over shirts and other merchandise.
