I deleted Facebook!

It's so hard for me to keep off of facebook because I have the app on my phone.  Whenever I'm bored, I usually always go to check it on, you guessed it, my phone.  I recently deleted it from my phone though. I'm already having withdrawals haha!  But I figure, the important people I have are all in my phone, just a text or phone call away.  Facebook is just a huge stalker dome where you learn stuff about others you normally wouldn't care about.  And I always find myself facebook creeping and finding out stuff I didn't want to know and it makes me depressed the rest of the day.  For example, I'm kinda jealous of my boyfriends' friends and whenever he posts on their walls or them on his, it makes me frustrated.  So, not being on facebook for that reason and finding out stuff I don' t want to know, I think it'll make life a little bit more stress free.  I'm going to see if I can make it to once a week checking it.

I usually have it opened, but I'm not constantly checking every single thing posted. I've hidden/blocked most games or pages - unless it's a game I play. I do culls of my friends list periodically - if I can't figure out who you are or what connect we have at a quick glance, byebye (and if we never talk). Mostly it's mods, family, school/work friends, bunny people (rescues), or game neighbours.

I think the problem is not Facebook but how you use it. I like being able to complain or pitch ideas directly on a company or product's wall (like My Little Pony for example). I was one of the first ones to mention on Lalaloopsy's wall that they need to make smaller ones and now look there are Minis.

I say congrats to you     I've thought about deleting mine many times- but there are some people on there who would be hard to stay in contact with otherwise, which is why I decided to keep it.  I don't know, I guess I'd rather spend my free time online here

I haven't deleted mine because my friends mess up their phones a lot and I want them to have another way to easily contact me and there are a few people I keep on there for networking purposes, but I rarely go on it anymore unless I get an email notification.


And I did stop playing those facebook games like a year ago. Petville consumed my life for a while. @_@;

I hear ya about not enjoying photos of peoples' babies and children. No offense to anybody, but it just annoys me to see photos of babies and children. I honestly think it's due to my Asperger's. Thank goodness for the unsubscribe from photos option. That way I can enjoy what the person has to say but not have to endure the child photos.

I've never even had one and when I hear people talk about it I'm so glad I never did. If a potential employed demands me to get one, then perhaps I will. But til then, I enjoy knowing that people I don't even care about don't know what I ate for breakfast.

I got talked into getting a FB account a little over a year ago and I think about deleting it all the time because most people get annoying and I end up blocking updates from them (I seriously feel ya about the babies). >_> I recently deleted most of my friends list and would delete my account it it weren't for 1. having a few ex co-workers on there I like to keep a contact with for networking. 2. My sister and my best friend and I keep in touch best through FB since I don't have texting and generally don't use my phone much 3. a couple brands, companies and local groups I follow because they only post news or meetup info on FB anymore. I feel like I'm stuck with it now for those reasons.

The thing is, we were able to keep in touch with people before Facebook and MySpace- even before email! People have gotten lazy and sometimes don't keep relationships well, can be socially awkward just because nobody needs to talk by phone or face to face anymore.

My career is online marketing, so I still handle my company's Facebook, but I've had it with mine. I was one of those people who posted something and kept coming back every 10 minutes to see if anyone responded yet.

Yes, my account is deactivated. Facebook makes it really hard to completely delete things. In fact, I've heard that your profile is NEVER gone. That's another thing that bothers me. If you delete pictures, they are going to be online forever. Just sickens me how much of our info is out there now.

How do you delete a profile on facebook? I've tried to remove mine, but so far it just gets 'deactivated'. It's supposed to be completely removed after two weeks of not logging on following the deactivation, but that turned out to be nonsense...

That is no longer... it has been changed so your profile is merely deactivated. It is never fully deleted. I'm not sure whether all the content that you've posted gets permanently deleted when you deactivate, though.

Same here. Never had Facebook, and after hearing various things about it, I'm glad that I don't have one. Besides that, I value my privacy, which is why I ended up deleting my account on MySpace. I'm just happy with LiveJournal as my blog of choice.

Sometimes I feel like one of the last "hold outs" against facebook - dont have a page, never had a page and dont plan to have a page...just a little uncomfortable with it...but thats just fussy old me!
