Black marks tricking me!!
« on: February 22, 2012, 08:47:32 AM »
So I've tried all of my normal means (Mr. Clean Magic Eraser, Nail polish remover w/ acetone) on some tough black marks that looked simple enough before I started. These are not budging at all. They look like black crayon or dry erase marker, yet they aren't coming off the way those normally would. Does anyone know how to remove them?

Pure acetone will do the trick with most marks - unless it's sharpie or pen.  :)

I've seen tutorials stating they Mr. Clean removes pen and sharpie...yet it never has for me. Where the heck do you find pure acetone? Beauty supply stores?

Sun fading seems to take ages. I want to scrub this poo off or give up and move on =)

What pony is it? Sunfading is the only thing I've found so far to get rid of certain marks... even from pony cancer on a white pony (with some help of her being in peroxide)

Ok cool. I'll check next time I'm there. Thanks!

She is G3 Twirlerina. She's light blue, so any bleaching could be a problem.

Check the paint section of a hardware store for acetone.  :)

If acetone didn't work, I don't know if this will help either, but some wax/oil based marks come off with rubbing alcohol. But try 100% alcohol instead of nail polish remover like has been suggested. It's cheaper/volume at hardware stores than beauty supply stores, but it comes in smaller quantities at beauty supply places.

I saw that awesome sun fading tutorial! It seemed quality, but I'm too lazy and impatient. If the acetone/alcohol fail, I'm giving up.

Thanks everyone!

I've removed some serious pen marks with acne cream, the 10% benzol peroxide kind. I wrapped the pony in foil, leaving a hole over the pen mark. Then I rubbed on some acne cream & stuck her in the window for a couple of days. I worked like magic, but did take some time.
