The magic sunfading can do~!
Quackers was just put on the window today. It's 7pm here so the sun is setting, not much brightness in the picture.
Next to Quackers is Argie Gingerbread who's tips of her ears and horn were resculpted and painted to match her colour... Well, her now former colour. You can see how much she's faded in just a week and a half or so of being in the super sunny window!
German Starshine next to Ginger was an experiment of sorts. She had lots of weird age-like spots like many German Starshine's tend to get and she was very grey (http://i.imgur.com/J2wMV.jpg). She's SUPER bright now, but a little uneven on some parts so she's staying in the window. On the end in Italy Firefly. She was already pretty much faded to white but it appears as if someone had a saddle on her for a very very long time and now she has a very clear imprint on her from it. Sunfading her to be totally white. Taking very long but she's getting there. :)

I have a Windy that would do good with a sunfading. I've been a little nervous about doing it though because of the glitter on her symbols... I don't want to pull it off so I've been trying to find the best method to cover it.
Does anyone have any experience with the syran wrap method that was spoken of? Would you recommend it? Honestly that sounded like the best option to me but I wasn't sure if someone else has any better advice  ^.^

Nice tutorial. Will this work on Masquerade? The only part of her needing lightening is her head. Or should something different be tried? Thanks :O)

I'm wondering about the saran wrap method too :) I have a TAF Munchy I'm going to sunfade and some of the marks are in between her symbols, so I think this would work best.

I finally finished sunfading my dingy grey looking german Starshine. Just blowdried her hair and tail today and she looks 100 times better! Pics to come tomorrow since it's too muggy and dark out today for any good pictures.

I'm the one that had some questions about sunfading Gingerbread since mine got a bit discoloured when doing so. It wasn't a total catastrophe and I think Gingerbreads can benefit from sunfading as long as you keep an eye on them. I managed to get rid of some spots, don't know exactly what they were. She did "tan" a bit but it's really only noticeable up close and doesn't show in photos. I think I let her sunfade for more than a month but the Scandinavian sun isn't that strong, good thing in this case. I think Ringlets made a really good summary in the Gingerbread thread I started. Quoting her:

"Personally I have sunfaded 3 Gingerbreads without any issues, but I know that some ponies who already have some discoloration can tan rather than whiten. Whitecap is one, as is Quackers, although I have successfully sunfaded a Quackers  and had no issues (or later tanning/problems with any of them) My advice is... if your pony is pretty nice as she is, then leave her. If she already has issues then try it and see how it goes, but just keep an eye on her, and check her daily."

Adding before and after photos of the spots on my Gingerbread.

Unfortunately for me I'm having to put Rosedust out to fade without symbol protection because of where some of the ink is.
should be perma-moderated

This was still her back side.
After TWO days in peroxide in the sun, yes TWO..
This is her progress!

I guess age spots can be at least "bleached" with enough peroxide. I know they have the possibility to return like on the Baby Moondancer I saw, but at least she'll look much better without the spots.

Clear container, H202, pony + sun=happy white pony!

Remove tail. I haven't covered any pony at all with painters tape, I've only soaked total restores. I like how Chi covered the eyes and symbols to help prevent fading/glitter loss. Wouldn't recommend a long soak with glitter symboled ponies as h202 can remove it.
There are other detailed threads on the topic in the old arena. I think there's some here too somewhere, just not sure where...

So you can't put hair in peroxide??
How long do you leave it in the sun/jar?
