Thanks for adding this, and also adding the part about the rubbing alcohol!

Just to show:

Here is Raincurl after I covered her with the paint:

I used liquitex heavy body and GLOBBED that crap on. I DO NOT suggest using it or globbing it on. Folk art cheap craft paint in white (or a color close to your pony) is best! But it did come off with rubbing alcohol and heavy scrubbing with many cottonballs without damaging any paint!

You can still see a bit of faint yellow off on her leg that I didn't scrub off in the first try.

I wouldn't suggest doing this on glitter symbols or princess symbols. But regular painted symbols work fine. If you really want to try it with glitter, I put a coat of clear acrylic over it (I use Tamiya X-22 clear model paint) But I think most pony peeps aren't brave enough to go that route. XD But it DOES protect the symbols from future wear and won't come off after an oxyclean bath, taping... and shouldn't come off with the rubbing alcohol. I haven't tested this yet. >_>

Anyway, this works great if there's something around your symbol that needs faded out and the symbol is very detailed... so you can't just tape over it. :D

awesome tehrin thanks!  :iconclap:

Is there an advantage to only covering the hair instead of the whole pony in foil?
yes! you would want the whole body to fade evenly.. otherwise you would end up with tan fade lines ;)

Also good to mention that Nirvana variations of Starshine sunfade just fine. :)
Mine's been in the window for a few weeks and she looks great so far. Can't wait to post before and afters for her and Italy Firefly.
...I still can't get over that gorgeous Argie gal of yours going from super dirty to absolutely fabulous.  :lovey:

Just wondering, do you think any sort of cheap acrylic would work like it did for you, Tehrin? I have some yellow and black Jo-ann's brand paint and I was wondering if that would work, or if I should just go buy some of the Folkart stuff from Walmart.
Nevermind, ended up just using painter's tape. Sticking with what I know best. XD

Psst, Rel  :ninja:
Since I don't want to make a huge mistake, would it be safe to sunfade Argie Gingerbread? She's literally faded to cream all the way through to the inside and I don't really know what would cause the plastic to sunburn, so I figured I'd ask since I think you sunfaded your Gingerbread in your photobucket, right?  XD

Thank you SOOOOOO much for this! I've always heard people describing how to cover your ponies when sunfading, but I still had no idea! Thank you sooo much for the picture! :D

Alright, that makes her the third pony in the window!
Took a peek today and Starshine looks SO WHITE... And she's not even close to done! Quite a difference from the terrible grayed mess she was when I got her.

ahhh YES thank you so much for posting this :D I recently scored a Little Flitter 2nd hand who needs 2 pen marks faded, and I wasn't sure if you expose the whole body, or cover entirely in foil save for the marks you need faded. I was nice to get confirmation from another response on this thread that using the latter method causes 'tan lines'. I reckon I'll be putting tinfoil over her wings too, though ^^ Seeing your results is inspiring, Rel :) I can't wait to see how my Little Flitter turns out now that I know how to do it right  you rock
