I'd imagine the only 'rare' ponies in the states (that were released here) is the stuff from Target's Canterlot line, and maybe the seasonal Pinie and Fluttershy. Other than, our ponies seem to be mass produced out the wazoo.

Rainbow Flash, Daisy Dreams, Star Dreams baby, Star Swirl and Skywishes seem to be the only HTF internationals.
I only have two out of those that I ended up buying off eBay; Star Dreams and Skywishes.
The others seem to show up for a bit more money than I'm willing to spend on a G4.

I've heard people saying that the 'banged' variations (first releases) of Twilight Sparkle, Applejack and Rainbow Dash are becoming more sought-after, since it looks like their re-releases won't have the bangs. It's a shame I already baited my first two Rainbow Dash baits.

Also, I'm predicting that banged Cheerilee and Lily Blossom will become harder to find, because those two didn't seem to be available for very long. :/

Sorry! I meant normal brushables. The blind bags, to my knowledge, only have one or two variations, but the brushables are rapidly getting more and more complex!

Not at all, but in terms of domestic releases in the states, Canterlot items are one of the few things that weren't realeased everywhere all at once. Hence why 'rare' is in quotes.

I can't find the larger Fashion Style Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, or Applejack. It also seems that the banged versions of the regular line are long gone too.

Yeah...I second the suggestion that its not so much hard to find as terrible distribution...all the supermarkets I visited seemed to get 1 and at a push 2 of each of wave 2, 3 and 4...as soon as they cleared out [which was fast because they were different] the same stores were inundated with luggage ponies and they havent shifted....I have already seen a couple of lots of G4s on ebay [obviously bought for children who are already fed up with them] so other than the international exclusives and perhaps some that came with playsets they arent going to really be hard to find

Hey...anyone think it is weird how the G4 with playsets are already more illusive than in G1 when some of the easiest to find ponies are the ones that came with playsets!

If I remember correctly, Twilight Sparkle's balloon had bangs... and she's at most big lots for $10. You could still pick her up there.

Yeah, it's driving me crazy! Now that I actually want playsets for display purposes, they're all impossible to find.

Darn it! My very first custom was a banged Applejack, when I wasn't into ponies and just wanted to try customizing. Thankfully, it's not exactly... um, good. So if I needed the AJ I can just peel the paint off.
