Pony Care
« on: February 16, 2012, 01:59:54 PM »
I don't know if there's a post on this anywhere...the most I could really find were posts about how to clean up and restore old ponies, but....

Is there anything special that you do with your new ponies when you unbox them to keep them in mint condition?

It's not very often that I unbox ponies, but when I do I just style their hair pretty and put 'em on the shelf with the other ponies. :)

Depends on what you want to do. If you want to keep super mint, don't style them. If you do want to style them, here's a handy guide; http://ponies.doctormowinckel.com/?p=38

First of all I try to not unbox them.   To keep your ponies always perfect do not let them under the sun light, protect them.

Keep out of the direct sunlight!!

Anyways, one thing I like to do is to smooth poofy hair with an unused soft bristle toothbrush. Don't go too crazy, though, or it will just get poofier!

I don't think I could ever leave them boxed  The only thing I've done with their hair is to dip it in hot water to tame the frizz. And I've been keeping them out of the sun (my room is in the basement  :P ). Does anyone give them regular cleanings to keep them from getting too dusty/dirty?

I'm just hoping to keep them as good looking as possible for a long time to come

You could keep them in a glass case to keep away dust, and far away from sunlight! That's pretty much all you need to do. They are made of just plastic after all. haha

Pretty much this. Also keep them away from children and pets! Dirty fingers and pointy teeth do not help keep ponies mint.

As for the cleanings - I mostly just occasionally dust off my dusty ponies. I have way too many to give them regular baths, and I wouldn't want to do that anyway. Best to keep them away from water at all costs...better safe than rusty moldy sorry. =P
