Oh, wow!! Congrats on your newest family member!!

.. What a conundrum you have on your hands!! I hate that you have to part with him, but thoroughly understand the need as well. I detest eBay for selling purposes, but there is no denying the better exposure to the public you'd get by listing him there.

And regardless of any shipping issues that you've had in the past I absolutely would not ship a pony of this scarcity before receiving payment. Not even to my own Mother ( who is a saint. ) In your case I would simply receive payment, sit on that money, ship and refund if he goes missing and then deal with the Post. For this reason I would also seriously debate if I wanted him to go outside of the U.S. just because if the liabilities and the fact that we all know how hard it is to get satisfaction from ANY postal corporation here or abroad when things go missing. :yikes: This would greatly reduce your potential buyers, but could potentially add a bit of insurance and peace of mind when he's off to his new home. ;) These are, of course, just my own opinions. I think you've got the right idea about how to find the best home for him.

I don't envy your tricky situation, but I sure am happy for your getting another baby! :lovey: Good luck!!

KCherry - thank you for your valuable input.  ^-^  I hadn't thought about international shipping and tracking issues.  Do you know, if the item is insured and then shipped internationally, does the postal service cover losses in the case of something happening?  Such a scary thought.  I've never had a problem dealing overseas, but often I hear of packages getting caught up in customs and then the delay becomes monumental.

Icey just had a bath and he's in the process of drying.  I'll take a few updated pictures of him as soon as he's all snazzy.

Aww, thanks Hunny. You do learn a bit when you hang out in TS for a couple of years. :P

I'm always happy to offer my advice in these situations. :) I'd rather not see anypony posting in TS with problems. LOL It's always so nice when things work out on the first go.

There is always a greater potential for items to become lost in the post when you are sending outside of whatever country your shipper is located in. While this might not be a great concern when you are shipping low-value items, when you are discussing rare items such as this it becomes a liability to ship outside of the country. Again, it can severely limit your customer base, but it is something to consider all the same. ;)

If you'd like to further discuss the ins and outs of over-seas shipping based upon what I've seen in TS do feel free to send me a PM. I am happy to assist you in any way. :)

Can't wait to see new pictures of him! He's stunning!! :cheer:

KCherry, I might take you up on that...I will want to offer overseas bidders a chance to bid on him, but want to go about it in the safest manner.  *sigh*  Hope everything goes okay with this...sometimes it's a bit nerve-wrecking thinking of all the different ponies you have in your collection and what could happen to them.  :drunk:

If you're shipping internationally, you could always ship with DHL or EMS. They're usually much faster, but because of that cost a little bit more. However, it is MUCH less likely to get lost.

PKW, I know!  I always look at it and am torn as to whether I like the mint or forest green stripe more.  But that dark green is so striking on him.  :lovey:

Flitter, I haven't heard of DHL or EMS - I'm not overly worried about shipping cost right now because I'd rather pay a bit more to ensure that he arrives safe and sound rather than risk him going missing in the post.

EMS is usually offered in every country, and seems to cost anywhere from 15 to 35 depending on where it's coming FROM. Generally arrives in no more than a week to wherever it's going. You can usually just send it through EMS at your local post office.
DHL costs a bit less but their offices seem to be a little bit harder to find. They also usually arrive in no more than a week.
Here's their website if you'd like to know more. http://www.dhl.com/en.html
Whenever I buy ponies from other countries (especially South America) and they cost more than usual, I tend to ask the seller if they'd be willing to use either one of these methods. Definitely worth it for me to pay a bit more for shipping than risk losing a pony in the scary dark place that is international shipping. XD

Thank you for the tips Flitter!  I'm researching them now.  ^-^  There's a DHL place very close to me, so that's nice to know.

He will be listed in a few days.  I finished a new photo shoot, and am still working on sorting out the mess that is his old tail.  He will be sold with both his original tail (glued by his childhood owner) and his donor tail from Wigwam.  Both are identical, minus the glue in the tail he's wearing obviously.  :P  He will come wearing the tail from Wigwam though, as it was easier to put in.  It's not secured with a washer, but is not budging when gently pulled on.

Keep an eye out for him pony peeps!  He'll be available soon! :lovey:
