I've been collecting for 8 years and I don't think I'm going to stop any time soon. I'll probably collect them forever.

I think I will collect as long as G4 runs. My pacing will depend on the releases and as long as they continue to interest me I will keep getting them. (I suppose there is a possibility I will eventually become overwhelmed by how big my collection is getting but I'm far from that now.)
I have no plans to get into collecting prior gens and I don't foresee any subsequent ones being as special to me, so yea.

I don't know. I don't really have plans to stop, but I tend to be really into a hobby for a year or two and then let it fade out and move on to the next thing. But then again, aside from my teenage I-want-to-be-cool-and-fit-in-so-I'm-abandoning-all-my-old-toys-and-cartoons stage, I've always liked My Little Ponies. And my "year or two" usual time limit for a  hobby is way past up and I'm still very much into them. However, I can still definitely see myself losing some of my enthusiasm for them eventually and putting them away for a while, but I don't think I'd ever sell them...and I'm sure that sooner or later, my interest in them would come back again :)

It depends. My checkpoints are at the reboots. If the next reboot doesn't please me, I stop.

Just like how I stopped collecting Strawberry Shortcake with the 2009 relaunch because I decided I can't agree with the way she talks. The same would probably go with the Care Bears- I already don't like the way the HB relaunch looks, and if the upcoming show has things I don't like, it's the end of them too.

Although that's just for that generation. It doesn't mean I'd retroactively block out previous gen toys.

I suppose until Hasbro stops making them and I end up collecting all official MLP merchandise ever. Which will most likely be years and years from now. And, get at least one G4 custom plush off eBay (those things are amazing!). After I finish getting them all, I'll of course still brush them and keep good care of them! :)

I can't say if I will be a lifelong collector since that is a long time! But I have been into ponies for 17 out of my 19 years, so I would say so far that it's going to be a while before I quit. :D
But at the pace I am collecting, I'll HAVE to be a lifelong collector if I plan on accomplishing my goals... so far, I only really get about 20 ponies a year. I wish I could get more, but alas... life costs money, lol.

I will keep collecting as long as I am interested. And if I lose interest I will never sell my collection because I know I will eventually get interest again. I hope MLP lives on for years to come.

i have never known a time where i have not loved and collected ponies.. so i never really thought that they would go away. they are an innate part of my being... without them i wouldnt be who i am.  I cant imagine life without them... it sounds funny.. but it's kinda like a best friend or a sister.... if that doesnt sound weird.  I love to see how ponies grow, not literally but like through generations and the random finding of Nirvanas and such.   ^__^

I'll collect until I feel my ponies can go to a better home. If my interest wanes, and I stop taking care of them, I'll find someone who will appreciate them more than I do. Till then, I'll keep a shelf or two, or three, or how ever many shelves I need full of ponies.

I sort of feel guilty getting into ponies so late, and I used to worry it was a fad, something I'd get sick of. But I've been at it for a year, and rather than just being interested in the show like I was initially, I'm now more interested in collecting than I am the show. I enjoy FiM, it's super cute, and really well made, but if you took the show away from me, I'd still enjoy buying, styling, and taking pictures of my herd.
