Hi all


Wondered if I might be able to pick your minds over my latest acquisition?


I just got this lovely little girl. She's adorable, and I've been after a Baby Lemondrop a while. However, I'm not convinced about her hair... Does this look like a re-hair to you?


It's the right colour (but it could have been poached from a dozen other ponies with the same shade), and the length? Not comparable to photos I've been checking on various pony websites...


It seems to be the original washer. I've never re-haired a pony before, so I'm not sure about the mane on the inside? I've added a photo of her against another couple of UK babies I have for comparison of length/volume. Her forelock in particular is much longer than that of B. Applejack and B. Hopscotch.


If she is a re-hair, I'll confess to a little, teensy weensy bit of disappointment, BUT, I do love her, and think she's gorgeous, so it won't bother me too much. Just having her is amazing!


What do you pony experts think? If it is a re-hair, it's a very good one?

Looks like a rehair to me... its too long.

The inside of her head looks neat and tidy, which could point to rehair. They probalby used the needle and thread method, that is why it looks so tidy.

Original hair is not neat and tidy like that! There is a factory weave inside the head, I wish I had a clear pic or you.

I would pull the head off another pony that you know is original and compare.

For many collectors, rehairing original ponies devalues them quite a bit. For me, I would pay about half of what they would be worth with original hair.

Looks like it's her original tail but rehaired mane.  It's definately too long and not woven on the inside.  If I can find my girl, I'll trade with you if you like... I don't mind rehairs at all.

Oh well... never mind! She's still very pretty, and thanks for the offer of the trade DevilishSmooch - that's very kind of you! I feel like I paid a bit much for her already though, so adding on postage for a trade might hurt my wallet a bit more than it does already!

I would say her tail is also a rehair, the cut looks much too blunt and the colour of both her mane and tail is a little off. She is still beautiful, though!

I'd agree with noasar on the rehaired tail too. The colour is off just a little and it looks too silky to be actual pony hair. She does look adorable though

Its the colour that looks a little too "unaged" if you know what I mean - I would say mane and tail rehair!

But she is still gorgeous!

Yeah, I think the tail is a re-hair too - I think someone has just been very clever and re-used the original washer/clamp.


In the auction there was very little description, and just the one photo (front-on, not really showing the full length of the mane). When I'd enquired about the 'issues' the seller had alluded to but not described, she said she suspected the hair wasn't right (length, and texture), but did not explicitly state it was a re-hair, which does seem very obvious now! I should have been more cautious I suppose, but think I was a little clouded by the 'want' factor and the buy now    Haven't we all trod on that path now and then!?


I still think she's gorgeous, and oddly, I don't really mind the new hair! Maybe long term I'll keep an eye out for a more authentic Baby Lemondrop, but am very happy with this wee girl in the meantime 


Actually, just a quick edit, looking at nappercasper's one, the colour on mine doesn't seem right at all, does it? The pruple on the original is a bit deeper. Live and learn eh?!

Yes i say also rehair! But baby LemonDrop is so cute! I have her to and she is next to my laptop...those pretty purple eyes....D'aawwhhh
