A question about Blind Bag ponies
« on: February 03, 2012, 04:12:12 PM »
When it comes to Blind Bag ponies, I've seen them posted on strawberry reef as being either "Glittery/Transparent" or "Crystal" (for example, wave 2 Applejack compaired to wave 4). What exactly is the diffrence between them? Is there one? Thanks!

Oh lookie here. :D

I've seen them as both as well. I'm sure there's no difference, but I'm not sure. DX

There isn't a difference, they're the same, so far as I know. :)

I'm also under the impression that they're the same.

They do look exactly the same to me.

Maybe "crystal" is what they're officially called, and StrawberryReef just hasn't updated all the mentions of "glittery/transparent" yet?

I dunno but since wave 4 is not out yet might be hard to guess from the photos.  If there is no difference though that shall save me a bit of money cause we need that whole wave!

I hope it's the same thing! Logic favors that argument... Hasbro can't even spend enough on quality control to make sure all the ponies' heads are the same color as their bodies. So I don't think they'd spend the extra cost of differentiating between "crystal" and "transparent."  ;)

Wait, I'm not sure, but aren't the wave four ponies metallic?

I'm interested to know if there is a difference as well. The colors of the mane 6 look different in strawberryreef's pics but I'd like to see them side by side.
Kind of hoping they are the same so I'm not buying the whole wave either.

well glancing at Strawberry Reef... I was looking at G/T Fluttershy and Crystal Fluttershy as well at G/T and Crystal Rarity... I think the Crystals have less glitter to them and possibly clearer? Hard to tell unless I had the Crystal ones...

Lol, hey there Aellos! :D

And thanks everyone! I figured that they were pretty much the same thing but the pictures are so small that it is hard to tell. Personally I'm hoping that they have less glitter, if any at all. My glittery Rainbow Dash from wave one keeps sheading glitter all over the place, lol.

I wonder why yours is shedding glitter? My sparkly Twilight hasn't shedded but then again she mostly just sits on the shelf unless I pick it up gently just to look at it. They might not be meant for rough handling. Or it could just be a QC issue with yours. This is Hasbro after all.

"Crystal" was used to describe the glittery transparent keyrings, I think, on the packaging. So maybe some people have picked that up as a term instead?

I have no idea, but I have her on a shelf, and when I dust, I have to move her. Glitter just kind of rains off her XD But like you said, this is probably just Hasbro. My glittery Pinkie Pie is fine.

So I kinda just discovered today that these glittery ponies are really just ponies coated in glitter. I'd actually thought the glitter was mixed in with the plastic (so I was a little confused, at first, by the "shedding glitter" comments). I'm super glad I didn't get any from wave 1 now. I'd even considered getting Rainbow Dash. *phew*

But now I'm kinda torn. I'd planned on getting three or four from wave 4. But I don't want them if they're going to be shedding glitter everywhere. Does anyone else have that problem? Do you think boiling and scrubbing them would get all the glitter off? What a stupid idea for toys meant for little kids. Why wouldn't they just mix glitter in with the transparent plastic like other toys... even other mlp gens?
