What's the best way...

To start collecting the older gen ponies?
I'm most interested in G3 because that's the one I grew up with, but I'm more than happy to collect earlier ones.


The issue is, I'm kinda broke-ish (Looking for a job first DX).
Do they hover around in Goodwills and Thrift shops anymore?

I think that G3 would probably be the most common gen to find in thrift stores, actually!


eBay is pretty good for G3s, too. You can get a good condition one for as little as about $3 including shipping, sometimes! Of course, you can always buy within the community- the pricing is less capricious

You can still find G1s in thrift stores If you look in the Brags forum you will see people are still finding them! But I agree G3s are MUCH easier to find!

I have had good luck with craigslist in the past too. Nice that its local too so you dont have to worry about shipping.

Thrift stores that still carry toys still have them, depending on your area. Goodwill and Salvation Army seem to not have toys often anymore, but other ones do...I find G3s all the time and Value Village, and G1s often enough to keep my happy.

I mostly find mine at Value Village, yard sales (occasionally), and Kijiji. I've looked at Craiglist now and then but never see them there. But that's just my town, I guess.

I always have good luck with Savers. It's a chain thrift store. I believe it goes by a different name, depending on what region you're in.

I forgot about eBay! You can get great prices on lots of G3s that only need a little TLC.

Wellp, none of the nearby thrift stores have it. Craigslist isn't an attractive option since I live in Detroit.

Maybe when I get a bit more money I'll try ebay! Thanks guys!
