MH customizers: have you used the yarn hair technique?

I'm sure some of you know with ponies you can do a sort of perfume-puff look by using yarn and sort of brushing it out basically. Has anyone tried this on an MH? I got a brilliant idea for a custom but I don't know how well it would work on an MH. I could use mohair but it seems almost too tame for what I have in mind, lol.
