Rubberbands for hair?

What rubberbands are good for styling pony hair?  I want small ones so they don't look silly, but I bought a package of Goody brand ones from Wal-Mart and while they're the right size they have zero stretch, so either I can't get the hair through them more than once or twice and they fall off or they get too stretched by my fingers and fall out anyway.  Now my pony's hair won't hold its pretty French twist.

If you can, get clear ones. There have been so many times where I've gotten ponies with deteriorated rubber bands in their hair, and sometimes they've even stained it I can't help with brands though.

Agreed.  Get the tiny, skinny clear ones - I think Goody makes them?  The ouchless goody brandy of ponytail holders should also work, too, I think, as long as you keep an eye on them. 

Regular rubber bands (like the type you get around newspaper) are going to rust and break in the hair sooner or later - and that isn't fun to clean up.

I agree, the clear ones work well...but eventually they will deteriorate just like any other kind.  elastic thread works, one kind has regular thread wrapped around the rubber.  You can just cut it after it's in place, and rotate so the knot is underneath the hair, lol!

I agree with using the small clear ones, cos even when they eventually deteriorate they wont stain the hair     (the normal colored kind can leave a nasty mess when they break down )

I have found the best place to get the right ones are salon services companies - like Sallys - they can be a little expensive but normally they have the nice quality ones clear ones.

In the UK, Claires Accessories do the tiny 'snag free' clear plastic bands - I have a little packet and there is at least 50 in there, so you get a lot

i got a packet of 600 clear ones for a $1 at dollar general, they got lots of stretch to em!

I see everyone saying the clear ones... however I bought those and they have no stretch whatsoever for me! (ok they do stretch but it's limited and I really can't do much with the limited when it comes to certain styles). And they were the ones from walmart (forgot the brand though it's been a while). I've stuck to using the small black ones that really have a stretch to them

I second the clear ones! I actually use those tiny rubberbands for braces... they were left over from when I had braces and then I got some from my brother after his braces came off lol. They are clear, super tiny, and have lots of stretch to them!

Dollar Tree has a pack of small clear rubber bands for hair (500 ct) for a $1.

I bought a large bag of mixed clear and black bands for a pound in Primark. The clear ones are used on the ponies, and the black ones I use myself. They stretch quite a lot but they do break quite easily if you over do it.

Dollarama in Canada sells little rubberbands from time to time. I have a whole bunch in different colors. They do eventually deteriorate but the pieces just peel off. At that price, for my own use, I am fine with them. I'd use something more expensive if it was going to leave my possession.
