Has anyone rehaired a Secret Surprise Pony?
« on: January 31, 2012, 03:48:50 PM »
Just wondering if there are any secret surprises I should know about in case I wish to rehair my girl with a chopped tail.  Would love to see pics if you have any.

Re-hairing the mane would be easy enough, but to do the tail you would have to get that plastic compartment out first, and you'd prolly have to be careful it didnt break :awake: . I have never attempted it personally yet, but there is probably someone here that has :)

I've never done one, but I do know that the saddle compartment sinks into the pony so that would make the tail harder to deal with. But with some patience and muscles you could probably get that compartment out.

I haven't done it by taking the compartment off I had one (The pink one with aqua hair) with a short short tail.

I managed to pry her tail out with needle nose pliers. It took a loooong time but I was able to do it that way!

I replaced her tail with a donor tail.

The thing I could think to do, would to be putting her in the oven at low heat in a glass pie dish or something.
For stubborn ponyheads, I just stand up the pony in the glass dish and heat to about 200 degrees for like 10 minutes or so. The plastic of pony's skin becomes soft/wiggly , but hard plastics like the saddle (just slide saddle off and leave it out of the process) or the 'bin' inside her probably won't. It should be easier to push that thing out while she's hot/you use a pot holder or something. To get it back in, probably the same thing.
It works for the peek a boo babies when you have to get the 'head turning thing' out of the neck. The turner is hard...ish plastic but its still fragile so you don't want to like rip it apart. Pulling the soft plastic aside a little lets you get it out more easily without fear of damage. (I had to do it for a Waddles...he's expensive so don't want to wreck)
However, I've never had to re-hair one of those guys before so this is just a guess

That compartment in totally connected, including the keyhole.  I had to break and remove everything. :(  I would highly recommend the above method of pliers and a donor tail.

same here. Removing the compartment just doesn't seem like an option after what Colorscapesart. If it's hard to pull the tail out, you might also try to just push it in? and just leave it there :P

Thanks everyone.  I will try removing the tail from the outside if I can.  Although the tail cut isn't actually that bad, so I may just leave it.

Well- is there a way you can push a new tail in? I did that with a custom that I wasn't able to get into the body with.
