epoxy clay vs epoxy sculpt

so they are both by aves, and what's the difference?  i mean besides the price?  and does anyone remember (if they bought online from aves) how much shipping was.

Not sure what the difference is actually. Postage to the uk was $11.

I have only tried the Apoxie Sculpt.  Shipping was a little over $10 on the site (USPS Priority I believe).

I bought the Apoxie Sculpt after much deliberation on the same question. I'm guessing that the Clay stuff is, well, clay-like, and the Sculpt stuff is a lot smoother and Play-Doughy, so it can make more refined shapes? My stuff does that, at least.

I've wondered this myself, and I've always just stuck with the Apoxie Clay.

From Ave's website under the FAQ's:

I have both of them and I honestly can't tell a difference in how they handle. They're both sticky and smell like corn chips

I know one difference. If you are sensative at all you might have problems with apoxy sculpt. Every time I use it, even if I absolutely saturate my hands with lotion before hand I will wake myself up digging and scratching at my hands because of how bad and deep they itch. Also? I get a response on my chin and throat that is much the same, that last for days, from the fumes it seems to put off even when I don't touch my face. >.>

I actually got to be a guinea pig with the Clay when it came out, they sent me some to try out before they started selling it.  I prefer the clay as it holds detail better...it's hard to describe.  Like when I'm sculpting feathers, I use a needle to do the veining...if using Apoxie Sculpt, after the vein is made and I leave it for a few minutes it sort of flattens out and loses it's crisp edges.  If you use Apoxie Clay it does not flatten out and stays nice and crisp like it should.  Other than that they aren't much different.

Interesting, the clay comes int two parts too? I have apoxie sculpt that was a gift from one christmas but I found a small problem. I was told that you can use lotion to smooth it out. So I did. Turns out the lotion I was using not only yellowed the pony but no the Part B of the Apoxie sculpe has yellowed too (because the lotion was on my hands at the time). It's not very easy to get out of the container either (might need to start using a strong spoon to get it out)

thanks guys! I have a feeling i will be ordering the clay:) I have had too many problems with clay not holding detail and i usually have to carve into it....  Thank you so much for your incite!  *runs off to order clay*

They totally do.

I only have the sculpt and I am only slowly starting to use it. It makes me nervous a bit. Cause I just know I'm gonna screw up. Ha ha.

I've never had any problems with the apoxie sculpt holding details, but you do have to wait sometimes until it's at the right stage of curing to get some of the really fine stuff.
