Restoring Tex

Got my female cousins old pony.
The male cousin bited his ears off and cut his hair.

Anyone tried to restore missing body parts from clay or other sculpting stuff? I'm thinking of attempting making him ears.
Also.. what sort of paint I should use to paint the symbol?( just the part where it is scratched) or should I not attempt?

Aww poor boy had had a rough life, I LOVE seeing someone willing to take on a pony to restore them back to their former glory, especially G1's. Congrats, he is a handsome fellow already, I am sure he will look great once you are finished with him :)

Poor Tex.  His ear is going to need some re-sculpting.  Hopefully someone here will be able to give you some advice on how to go about it :)

Sculpey maybe?  You can probably use another pony to help you make proper ears.  :) Best of luck - he's a gorgeous boy!

I love seeing that people want to restore G1's c:, you can not imagine how happy it makes me c:

The ears are pretty easy to fix, I usually use Apoxie Sculpt for making new body parts. It takes time to get used to it though. And Acrylics should do fine with the symbols, not the cheapest kind. And good brushes are always a plus. But I wouldn't recommend fixing the symbols unless you're sure you can mix the exact same colour.

I'm no expert, but I personally would not try attempting to fix the symbols (hmm..probably because, as I said, I'm no expert lol). They don't look too bad, and if you happen to mess up, it could turn out a lot worse than it is. As for the ears, I've seen plenty of people resculpt ears and other parts. I'm sure it's easier said than done though...maybe if you haven't done much sculpting before, you could practice first on a fakie or even just practice making small ear shapes, to ensure that when you do fix Tex, you'll be able to make them smooth and 'natural' looking. Maybe look around some tutorials or old restoration threads and see what those people use - I know air dry clay is pretty popular, isn't it? That would be a nice alternative to risking melting the poor boy. :O

Anyway, good luck! I adore when people restore G1s rather than bait them over issues that can be easily fixed or even just ignored. =)

Oh my goodness he has certainly had an adventuring youth!!!

I am no expert but his symbols dont look too bad - I am sure a good clean, sculpt on his ear and a minimal re hair and he ll be fantastic!

Good luck!

I'd ask the good people over in the Customs Forum about what materials would be best to fix his ears.  I really love seeing restoration threads and pictures, so keep us posted!!  I'm sure he will look beyond handsome when you are finished.

I had a pony with a bad ear.

I sent her to Strawberry Fair, and she fixed her right up!!

 I'd give her a try!
