Chicago people.... where are the best flea markets?
« on: January 28, 2012, 03:23:04 PM »
So... I am fairly new to Chicago. And I am wondering (as some of you may have noticed my interested in thrift stores/flea markets), if there ARE any good flea markets or places in Chicago that I -cough-mayfindponiesat-cough- could be recommended to? Right now I am really super excited about the Randolph street market, I just saw some videos on it and I'm pumped. (If you feel discouraged to share this precious info.... I WILL SHARE PONIES, LOL) Problem is, weekends are tough for me. I have a Saturday class from 1-4 and work ALL day on Sunday, which severely impacts my ability to do things this semester (though that Randolph St. one... I may sneak in early, then come back to visit after class). Just for reference, my location is in the Loop area.

Thoughts? Suggestions? :P

Thanks, kaoskat.
I tried Google, but there weren't many I could find. D: Found the Randolph street one, and a few more that were waaaay out of downtown (like, 40 min-1 hour away).

I shop for ponies at the Unique Thrift Store and Discount Village, but they are both in Uptown by my house. I don't really have time to scour the city, and I usually get lucky at these places. It depends on what you're looking for though. G3's are everywhere. G1's are pretty hard to come across and personally I wouldn't waste my money going to the Randolph St. Market unless you just want to shop around for other things as well. If someone there has ponies I'm sure the price will be high on them.
I've never been, so I could be wrong.. but it seems like the kinda place where people are trying to make money, not get rid of their junk.

You'll have to travel a bit further north of the loop to find some good thrift stores.
